My mind is a mess but I still want to say something....

When you spend your childhood as a refugee, fleeing nationalism, racism, hatred, prosecution, war, torture, rape and murder... when you go from one day to another, not knowing whether you are now an orphan or not... and you finally make it to a place of peace ... you think... you hope... you eventually believe that you are safe and free...here I can be happy... but even there you hear...

...the hum of a million accusations, questions, suspicions...the hushed comments around friends' dinner tables and drunken ramblings at parties... and all those things you dismiss, you forgive, and you tell yourself that they don't really mean it... and they tell you: "I don't mean you, you're not like the others, you're Norwegian."

This horrifying phrase clearly marks how even people who are close to you distrust, fear, even hate the Others. And I am the Others. And those people, friends, acquaintances, they do mean me. And it hurts.

Yesterday, that hum turned into a blast, gunshots and countless screams. Even now it is a siren rolling down my beautiful Oslo street. And people ask me 'How did this happen?'

And I remember how and why it happened before.

Because people watched in silence. Because people tolerated messages of hatred to spread and grow. Because people let their fears take over.

Do not kid yourselves out there. All those little comments, and jokes, and jabs, and questions add up. The most radical right wing party still stands strong in Norway, as do other similar parties across Europe. Spreading anti-Islamic, racist, anti-immigrant and anti-immigration propaganda, and fueling the monster that reared its ugly head yesterday, they all contributed to yesterday's events.

This was the work of one man, one extremist, but even he was influenced and supported by others.

However. This man does not represent the Norwegian people, though I think we must face some uncomfortable truths at this terrible time.

I firmly believe that it is everyone's duty to make sure that this does not happen again. We must all face our fears and prejudices and deal with them. We must all learn to live together, respect and tolerate each other, and peacefully find solutions to our common problems.

Do not forget! Yesterday's attacks, though based on appalling extremist right-wing ideology, were also attacks on democracy and peace. All I can do is echo the messages of our current government:
We will not be silenced or stopped by violence.
Our answer to this attack must be more democracy and more openness.

My heart goes out to the youth from AUF Utøya, and their families and friends. My heart goes out to the parents and families whose children will not be coming home. I know all too well the feelings and fear they must feel but there are no words to describe it, nor do I wish anyone to know such pain.
My heart goes out to the people of Oslo and all of Norway.

Take care of each other. Grant each other love and respect. And don't ever forget.

Hope you all got some well deserved rest in the past weeks. You've probably been leveling a bit since my last post and I'm sure that many of you have managed to see more of the new Cata gear than I have had time for. I've become one of those people who work their ass off to afford all the things they want in life only to find out that they have no time for what they can now afford because they are...well...working their ass off. *sighs*
I've been working about 130% for a while now and though I really want to cut back on the hours it's easier said than done. I enjoy my job a lot. Wish I could somehow have the time to work this much, have a social life, paint, write, play wow, run my guild and write this blog...

But until I get my time turner, posts will not be coming in as often as I wish they did.

Mage Outfits Part One

Heya! See, this is what happens when I'm away too long: the world is turned up-side down. But I really need the money to pay for all the stuff from IKEA to fill my new apartment! Oh, and some change for that little trip I'm going on next weekend. ;) But back to the blog...

The idea behind these posts is of course to give an in-debth image of the mage. Hopefully this will give you some inspiration.

This first article will deal with the most common and famous mages from Azeroth and Outland as well as a few mage types. I will of course try to give you the info on how you can dress like some of the mage NPCs.
I will also use some of these mages to show you a few item sets that are avaliable to mages.

In the upcoming articles you can look forward to more mage rp outfits representing each specialization; Arcane, Fire and Frost. I will also try to give you a few pointers on how to create an outfit for a frostfire mage.The plan is to also finish this little series with an 'All The Little Things' article that will present you with a summary of all the rings, necks, trinkets, tomes, off-hand frills, mounts, spells, glyphs and pets that can make your mage more interesting. And then when I'm done...I'll get annoyed at all the new stuff that's come out in Cata that I haven't added. But first things first...

The Mage and Mage Dress Code

Whatever one's opinion might be of the mage, it is easy to observe that these are the people that take dressing very seriously. Perhaps because we are a cloth wearing class with the least amount of protection? "If I have to die, at least I'll die in style and looking my best!" is my mage motto.

As you can see in the picture of the lovely miss Jaina Proudmore, mages are naturally a flashy and elegant class. Not only is her outfit amazing, but she has also managed to obtain some purple nail polish and eye shadow to make the whole outfit complete. Vanity, thy name is Jaina...

Conclusion: A mage can only be seen in rags if he or she has accidentally sent the fireball in the wrong direction. Even the lowest mage apprentices are clad in above average outfits.

There is no equvalent to Suzanne's robe.

Mage dress code?

Almost all mages in WoW wear robes - always. Locking the entire class to cloth and robes has, however, not stopped the mages. For instance, mages find ways to personalize outfits with colorful and detail rich robes and accessories such as weapons. Weapons that mages can carry are wands, staves, daggers, one handed swords, along with tomes and other kinds of off-hand frills. A mage will often wear a pointy hat, hood, circlet or a collar. The robe however is the one piece of clothing that is a constant.

If this has your head spinning...Typical dress code for the mage class consists of the following items: a robe, a hat, a wand and a staff. It can be that simple.

Mage Trainers and Racial Differences

Here are some more mages I've run into.

If you are a Human, your first mage trainer will be this guy: Khelden Bremen. His robes are actually quite unusual for a lower level trainer and I have not seen any other mage trainer dressed quite like him. The robe he is wearing is the Spellbinder Robe, which should be easy enough to find on the AH. Another alternative is the Spider Web Robe and is a quite simple farm from low level spiders in Tirisfal Glades. The Spider Web Robe is a sleeveless version of the Spellbinder Robe but it is also a common quality level four item. - making it more accesible to any alt you may have. I've personally farmed a whole closet of these. So, it is not soulbound, extremely low level, good looking and easy to get. Go farm.

Another Human mage of note is Archmage Malin. The outfit he is wearing is very nice looking and interesting. I would recommend it to Human mages.
He is wearing the Flarecore Robe/Infernoweave Robe with red boots. I'd suggest the Imperial Red Boots and Gloves.
If you want to make this outfit a little more special, add Imperial Red Mantle and replace the dull belt with Angelista's Grasp.

As with any class, there are geographical and racial differences in style. Horde mages and mage trainers often reflect this quite well by wearing a variety of outfits - from tribal inspired Troll mages such as the Orgrimmar mage trainer Deino and Thunder Bluff Birgitte Cranston to the flashy Blood Elf trainers of Silvermoon. Most Undead mages tend to follow Human style of course.

Miss Cranston seems to have struck a balance between the tribal style of Troll culture and her Human roots.
The robe Deino is wearing is the Brightcloth Robe.
Birgitte is wearing a combination of the leather leather Big Voodoo Robe - in kilt form - and the Darkmist Armor. The shoulders are the Shadoweave Shoulders.

In Silvermoon you will find some impossible to get outfits - usually mixtures of mage tier items and dungeon sets, kilt forms and so on - while other outfits will be very easy to put together. Of the easily attainable items the most notable ones are the Blood Elf mage starter robe and the mage quest Manaweave Robe (no longer avaliable). You will see more of these two in the upcoming posts.

Another robe I found interesting in the mage part of Silvermoon was this version of the craftable Imbued Netherweave Robe. This robe also works well for mages who are interested in dressing like the Scryer loremasters and mages. For a fire mage, the red version of this very same robe is the Magister's Terrace Heroic drop: the Scarlet Sin'dorei Robes.

Speaking of Burning Crusade influences, most mage trainers in Exodar can be seen in Anchorite's Robes. These robes can be bought at the Aldor quartermasters if you have a reputation level of honored. They represent both the Aldor faction and Exodar mage trainers very well. An alternative is the golden version, Draenic Silk Robes. Works well as part of a unique outfit for fire mages or priests.

You can also try dressing up like Lunaraa. She is the portal trainer in Exodar and is wearing the Robe of the Magi along with Shadoweave Shoulders. This outfit works very well for alternative arcane magi.

Robe of the Magi can be a little pricy on the auction house as the drop rate is quite low. I still think it's worth the gold as there is no other robe like it, the coloring is really interesting and it looks good on any race (I'd recommend it to Blood Elf arcane mages)

For fire and frost mage equivalents of this model, keep reading. ;)

Last out among mage trainers are the Gnomes. Cutest of them all are found in the Mystic Ward in Ironforge. I'm talking about Juli Stormkettle and the adorable pair; Bink and Dink. They are all wearing classic Vanilla cloth armor.

Juli's outfit consists of Crimson Silk Shoulders and Crimson Silk Robe.

Bink is wearing the blue version of the Crimson Silk Robe and its name is the Abjurer's Robe. This robe is one of my all time favorites.

Dink's outfit is only slightly more complicated. The robe is the Royal Gown, the shoulders are the Azure Shoulders but I cannot find that purple belt. All I know is that it is a purple version of the Gossamer belt.

Bink and Dink

New class - race combinations have now made it possible to have a Night Elf, Dwarf, Orc, Worgen and Goblin mage. Though these races are 'new' to the mage class, there is precedence. Orc mages will most likely follow the traditional Troll and Orc wear. Dwarf mages have been seen wearing pretty much the same as Gnome mages.

Night Elven mages already have some interesting outfit suggestions in Highborne and Shen'dralar items such as the Sorcerer item set (which has now also been introduced as the starting robe for all Night Elf mages) and the Archmage Robe - a robe that all Shen'dralar wear.

Worgen mages generally follow Human dress code with a Gilnean flavor, while the Goblins tend to have a more Gnomish/Goblin dress code with their very own tribal twist.

Burning Crusade - The Isle of Quel'Danas

Moving on to some other locations with a high content of mages... Isle of Quel'Danas! Aside from the Scryer and Aldor tiers in Shattrath, the Isle of Quel'Danas is a good place to visit for mage inspiration.

Those of you who raided Sunwell, have visited these guys often. Located on a ship in the Isle harbor, you can find Archmage Ne'thul and his advisors. Ne'thul himself is wearing the good old BC BOJ Tormented Demonsoul Robes or the Black Temple drop Robe of the Shadow Council with priest Swiftheal Mantle. The robe comes in two more colors - brown and green. My first badge armor acquisition back in BC was the brown Shroud of the Lore'nial. Later on I upgraded to the black Demonsoul Robes. So yes, though they may not be 'typical' mage robes, they will surely hold memories for characters who were a part of Outland battles. I know they do to me.

Ne'thul's three advisors are all wearing the Tempest Regalia. The Tempest Regalia is an amazing set for mages, yet somehow it is rarely seen among roleplayers. The helm is a one of a kind, and the coloring perfect for any pure arcane mage. I am actually planning on getting rid of most of the baggage on Hanuma in order to farm this set soon.

For more outfits, visit Magisters' Terrace or Sunwell Plateau. There you will see Archmages, Magisters and Keepers, all in mage tier armors.

Northrend and Dalaran

On your way to Dalaran, more specifically in Westguard Keep, you will run into Mage-Lieutenant Malister. Mister Malister is wearing the Glacial Robe with blue Incanter's Pauldrons and blue Handwraps of Flowing Thought. Neither the shoulders nor the gloves are avaliable to players, I am sorry to say. The belt is the Talonite's Belt and is leather so nothing good to report there either.*sighs*

However, you can match your Glacial Robe with the Midrealm Hat to make an amazing, yet simple set. Try also adding the Stormwind Tabard and Lieutenant Commander's Silk Mantle.

And then there is Dalaran... The city itself holds plenty of mages from which to draw inspiration. I've chosen to focus on a few.
If you want to dress like a Dalaran mage, please take a look at my previous post on the subject because I will not cover it here.

What I have previously not given much attention though, are the mage gladiators in Dalaran's Underbelly. These are all similarly dressed, but do not wear the usual Kirin Tor uniforms. In stead they wear the Brutal Gladiator's Regalia.

(Have you noticed that these mages no longer have the same 'name' - but have now been given proper names?)

Another Underbelly mage wearing a noteworthy outfit is miss Nixi Fireclaw - water vendor. Her outfit consists of the Tirisfal Regalia and the Crown of Endless Knowledge.

Her looks have been changed since I took this picture, but the outfit is still the same.

Aside from the obvious mages scattered across the city, the most famous is without a doubt the Kirin Tor leader Rhonin. He is also the poster boy for pant loving magi, and an annoyance to me. I have never been a fan of the mage T8 Conqueror's Kirin Tor Garb and I doubt I ever will be.

But...if you are, that's what he's wearing. Also, if you like this set, check out the brown Valorous Kirin Tor Grab.

More interesting to me are the Horde mages in Sunreaver's Sanctuary. Clad in classical and BC mage gear, they represent mage fashion from my point of view. And only now did I realize how incredibly stuck in my ways I am... *looks into the mirror only to see a grey haired mage who has clearly been too busy with her own books and ideas to notice that the world around her has changed*

I'm still writing about them though... :P

To the left: Magister Brasael in his gorgeous Evoker's Silk Battlegear - also known as the red version of the Incanter's Regalia. LOVE this one!

Magister Surdiel is wearing the BOP tailor crafted Sunfire Robe/Robes of Ghostly Hatred with Shoulderpads of Knowledge's Pursuit.

Magister Sarien; wearing the recolored version of the Arcanist Regalia. This yummy red set is avaliable from Outland instances.

Looking for more Vanilla classics? Magistrix Lambriesse can be seen wearing many of them: Robe of Doan, Magister's Crown, Sunderseer Mantle (or Exquisite Sunderseer Mantle).

Then there is Magistrix Vesara in a (slightly recolored?) pant version of the Sorcerer's Dungeon Set 2 from Vanilla. This outfit is not avaliable to players as a whole, and perhaps that's just as well. *giggles*
Oh and neither is the DS2 acvaliable to players since the sundering it seems - the quest lines for the dungeon set upgrades have been removed from the game.

Her off-hand is the Master Dragonslayer's Orb. Not sure about the blade though... I looks pretty simple, so an enchant on a weapon like the Sinister Scimitar should do the trick?

Of the five remaining Dalaran mages of interest, two can be found in the Violet Gate - the room you teleport to from Crystalsong Forest. Greeting you is Archmage Celindra. She is the portal trainer and is wearing the Merciless Gladiator's Regalia. Her helm is a green version of the Crown of Endless Knowledge, but I don't really know if this is avaliable to players.

The scowling mage trainer behind her is Warcaster Fanoraithe. He is wearing a Shadoweave Robe/Robes of the Lich, Hallowed Pauldrons, Belt of Dark Mending and Incanter's Cowl.

Next on the list is Archmage Lan'dalock, who is wearing a very interesting outfit. I am adding him because this is exactly how I want the Kirin Tor Garb to look on us mages. The rest of the outfit is the same as the regular Kirin Tor Garb but in stead of a tunic and pants, this mage is wearing a robe. *envy*

His weapon is the purple version of the Apostle of Argus staff. The jobless Archmage Timear is wearing a blue robe set version of the Kirin Tor Garb and is actually carrying the Apostle of Argus.

Inside the Violet Hold, Lieutenant Sinclari (why do I think of Clarice Starling from Silence of the Lambs here??) is wearing what appears to be the Netherwind Regalia.

The gloves and shoulders are from the set. However, the lower part of the robe does not match at all. Though it looks familiar to me, I cannot figure out what it could be. Leave a comment if you know the answer to this little puzzle. ;)

And last but in no way least, Archmage Vargoth. I believe I once promised to put together a lookalike outfit for this famous mage, and now I'm delivering - but I am too late.

I am really sorry to have to say this, but unless you already have the DS2 Sorcerer's Regalia there is no way you can complete this outfit.

As mentioned, the quest chains for the dungeon set one upgrade have been removed from the game with the most recent changes and there are no alternative items out there that share this coloring.

For those of you who have held on to your Sorcerer's Regalia, here is what you need:

Sorcerer's Robes, Mantle and Boots. In stead of the Crown, Vargoth is wearing a Violet Hat. His gloves are, oddly enough, the Imperial Red Gloves. I have had these red gloves in my bags for a very long time, but I never would have thought that a mage of Vargoth's stature would wear something this simple. Aaanyways... Last bit of gear you need is the purple cloak and you can buy one just like it from your major city PVP quartermasters:

Wrathful Gladiator's Cloak of Dominance.

Again, I feel really bad for not posting this information sooner. Sorry!

A Few Other Mages Types

Among the mage NPCs we also find some of the most prominent deviant mage types. You often battle rogue, cultist, and pirate/Defias evokers and mages. All of these are types that I have met ingame as roleplaying characters. People generally pick a faction to belong to and even some mages of my own guild have taken 'radical' paths, meaning we have some trading/pirate mages and one presumed techno mage in our ranks. This makes roleplaying a mage quite interesting.

It is a bit of an irony though, that the robe the Bloodsail and Defias mages are wearing is BOP and only avaliable to the Horde: High Robe of the Adjudicator. My only suggestion is the Cindercloth Robe paired up with a Stylish Red Shirt, Red Swashbuckler's Shirt, or as in the screenshot above a Scarlet Filigreed Doublet. The Bloodsail mages are also wearing Grom'tor's Bloodied Bandage and Durable Shoulders.

The Defias Renegade Mages are wearing the Gossamer Belt, a Bloodwoven Mask and red or brown gloves.

However, if you want something simpler and easier to get you can dress like a Defias Rogue Mage. What you need is a Brown Linen Robe, a red mask, light colored shoes or boots and a belt similar to the Apprentice Sash.

Almost all Defias and Bloodsail mages carry very simple staves. My advice would be a simple wooden tribal staff or a quarterstaff.

Zapblast - a techno mage?

And then to finish off this post I wanted to write about techno mages. But... Finding a techno mage in the game itself has proven to be extremely difficult.
Though they are mentioned in the lore, I have not seen any Goblin, Gnome, Draenei or even Dwarf mages that can clearly be defined as a techno mage.
In the simplest sense, a techno mage would be a tinkering mage. But...it's not qute that simple. By definition, a techno mage combines his magical powers with technology to enhance his own spells - the technology is almost an extension of the magician. Take Torben Zapblast for example. Unlike most other transporter operators, he stands out as a 'teleportation specialist'. But, we do not know for sure that he is a mage, though he is a mana user. He also refers to himself as an engineer so odds are not in our favor. I have no idea. I would like to think that there is a chance of him being a mage and a techno mage, but I have no proof. So what does a techno mage look like? If you know something I don't, please share it. ;)

Might have to start doing this more often considering the amount of work I'm having thrown at me nowadays. Finally got some hours off yesterday (yeah, on a Sunday... :S) and started on the mage articles. If I don't pass out when I get home, I'll try to finish and publish the first one. As usual it turned out to be a series of posts. ;)

Ingame I've only had time to do a few dailies. The goal has been to get the Argent Pony Bridle for my Argent Squire and I finally did get it on Saturday. Yaay! I can now access my bank or a mailbox no matter where I am! *happy*

What a girl will do for clothes...

Hey!

While I am working on the mage posts, here's something to read for you. Brewfest has come and gone. Since I had already done all the quests, gotten all the items, achievements and mounts, I decided to take advantage of the new LFG system for Coren Direbrew to make myself a different challenge. I would farm the Circle of Flame.

For those who are not familiar with this helm: it is a 1% epic drop off of Ambassador Flamelash in BRD and -the- most amazing mage helm out there. It has a use function that wraps the caster in evocation like flames. You will see it in the upcoming posts. ;)

So, here's what this girl did for the Circle of Flame:

One. Joined the Coren Direbrew random and helped the group defeat him. Yes, some people just run for the bar in the Grim Guzzler, but I personally think that abandoning your random teammates is extremely rude and selfish (no matter how easy the encounter is).

Two. Thanked group and headed for the bar where Plugger Spazzring has 10 Dark Iron Ale Mugs for sale - bought the lot. This is because eventually I had so much ale that I saved time by going straight for the "open the back door routine".

Three. Offered three rounds of ale to Private Rocknot - that makes it six ale. No need for more. Once he got his ale, Rocknot headed for the kegs and I for the bar door.

There is a sweet little bug here that will actually let you go through the bar door before the cork smashes it open and enrages Phalanx. By standing with your back to the door you will see this as your camera simply goes through the door and lets you view the room behind it. At this point you can just walk through it. This actually did save me some time. As soon as the door opened I rejoined LFG for Coren.

(As a mage you can also blink though Phalanx or walk through him by using Invisibility.)

Yes, this is what my bags look like... :S

Four. Popped my Invisibility and ran through, or just around, the group of dwarves and down the first corridor to the left. Flamelash went down quickly. Looted and accepted the incoming LFG group invite. Rinse and repeat.

After about 180 runs I finally had my helm. Yes, I was locked out of every single instance and raid I wanted to do for about an hour after my Direbrew farms, but it was definitely worth it. I even ran into someone who was after the helm himself! Really hope he got it. :)

Though this is one of the most efficient ways of farming the Circle of Flame, there are also other ways. If you do the Love Potion quest in the bar, you will skip the ale run to open the door. I didn't really find the ale part very time consuming so I never tried it out, but it is definitely an option. You can also kill Plugger Spazzring for the key, but it will aggro the entire bar.

Just remember that the only way to bypass the instance lockout and enter more than five times an hour is queueing for Coren Direbrew during Brewfest. All other times of the year, you have to go through the instance the normal way, or use your Direbrew's Remote. The remote is on a one hour cooldown though...

What has worked for me before Brewfest was making sure that I have one last remote run at the end of the day and logging inside the instance. This is because when you log back in the next day, the instance will have reset, you will be back in the Coren room in the bar and you will have one run and a remote off of cooldown for a new reset and rerun right away. ;)

And then the story of your custom cross faction gear pick up. Most of us have done it, but perhaps not quite like this. ;)

"So what is a young mage like yourself doing in such a hostile place?"
"Oh, just a bit of shopping, you know... You wouldn't by any chance have a Snowhide set for sale?"

After doing my post on white outfits, I go to check Kirina's site and find out that the Horde (lucky Horde...) have a set exactly like the Boneshredder for sale in Borean Tundra. A vendor? Darn! And here I was, scanning the auction house for it for ages. But...
Can't just walk in there on my Draenei mage and shop, now can I?

Not to worry, I'll go on my level 27 Blood Elf mage. To Northrend.
Warlocks? Pff, who needs them! *arrogant mage look*
Escorte? This girl can do it on her own!

Step one. Find a puddle to drown yourself in. Preferably one close to the zeppelin to Borean Tundra, which leaves from Orgrimmar. I will leave the choice of puddle to you. Dying is personal and unpleasant business..never get used to it. *shudders*
Dying and ressing on the same continent will generally return you to your original res spot, so yes, you have to die here and not in Borean Tundra.

Step two. Ghost run to the zepp, get on and enjoy the wind rushing through your now ghostly body as it speeds away to the chilly continent of Northrend.
When you get there make your way to Taunka'le Village east of Warsong Hold, over half way to Dragonblight. Remember, do not res at Warsong Hold. Running as a ghost is fast and efficient as there are no obstacles.

Step three. Find the spirit healer right outside Taunka'le Village and reclaim your corpse. The village is only a short walk away and nothing scary is lurking about. You have arrived!

Step four. Tewah Chillmane is the first Tauren lady to your right as you enter the inn through the main entrance. She will have your Snowhide armor ready. The full set costs around 35 gold and here comes the perk: it is not soulbound. Truly a blessing for those with packed bags.
I would suggest leaving the helm though. It is not very pretty and skipping it will save you almost six gold.

Step five. Travel to a Goblin auction house of your choice and sell the items to your Alliance self. Remember, the lower the price, the faster you have to be at picking the items up. Wouldn't want someone else snapping up your armor. Have a friend stand by to pick it up immediately if you are worried. Selling at high prices will cost you because the pentalty of cross faction trading is quite high. I would not recommend it unless you are selling for profit or transferring gold. Anyways, for this particular set the profit part may only work if people read my blog. *laughs*

So there you are my Alliance friends, a white and furry leather set that is not soulbound. Of course this works the other way around as well. ;)

It's finally weekend! Yaay! Too tired to write so here's something from RL with a little WoW flavor!

Vashj'ir and some gear...

Another little update on Cataclysm exploring coming your way. After a few days of WoW crashes - we're talking critical errors, download client nerdrage, Goblin gone missing from character list *halp!* and Hanuma being stuck on an invisible boat *missing CataHanuma*- I finally made it to Vashj'ir. I also broke my 'no questing' rule so I could show you my first bit of Cata aquired gear on Hanuma and of course my first Cata mount. But before I get to all that I want to show you Vashj'ir.

It's all so surreal down there, making me think that I'm not really playing WoW at all, but a game version of one of my childhood fav cartoons - the Snorks. Remember the Snorks? If you don't, just replace the Naga with adorable little smurf-like multicolored characters with a snorkel on their heads and you've pretty much entered cartoon Snork-land. And I say this with love, because there is nothing wrong with Vashj'ir whatsoever. It's beautiful and a good way to go for wow.

For those who hate the new colorful and shiny look of of our beloved pixel world, there are of course more sinister areas to visit. And monsters to battle...

Mount and some gear...

When you arrive to Vashj'ir you need to do a quest to be able to breathe under water. I forgot to check if fishing rods and the like work so I'll leave those experimetns to you. Then I found out that all you need in order to get an Abyssal Seahorse mount is a little quest chain. It's pretty easy to do so...voila! I got myself this adorable little guy. Of course you can only use him under water...

While on this chain, I also managed to get my first bit of Cata gear. I really like this helm and am hoping for more gear design in this direction. Being way too excited with all the scenery and my new fancy helm, I of course forgot to write down its name. But you're in no rush to get it so I suppose it's ok. *hides*

Here is also a robe the lovely CataEterna picked up. As you can see by the thin stripe across the waist, it is not quite done yet, but it's stunning none the less. So far so goood as far as new gear design is concerned. I have heard that most models are out now, even some plate, but haven't had the time to check them yet.
What I have seen of the starting area gear is really nice stuff and it will make it easier for lower level characters to look as good as top level ones. I like that. Was about time really...

And now a small Cataclysm followup on my sexy gear post. *grins*
Here's a pair of low cut plate pants that have a very peculiar look on male characters (I know, they look like mail gear to me).
They are actually lower than your default underwear, something Dengan had problems with. But it really is about time male characters have a taste of ridiculously revealing armor that you are too embarrassed to show in public. *nods while grinning*

Hotter Than Ragnaros

I know, I know... not really my style this, but hey! It's not like female characters in racy armor are a rare sight.

And even though Hanuma still has nightmares from her traumatic encounter with a pair of pants - panties more like - in Hellfire Peninsula, I know that there are plenty of ladies who proudly parade through main cities in extremely sexy and highly impractical armors. Can't say it doesn't look good though, as a single walk through Dalaran draws more attention than epic loot.

So if you are a smokin' hot babe, or want to dress like one, here's some inspiration for you.

First of all I really want to thank Tay and Yalena for bravely showing off their sexy collection and thanks to Eterna for providing her MC skills to make some of our screens oh so much fun.

PS! There will be quite a few complete sets in this post.

Cloth

So let's start with Hanuma's nightmare pants... Turns out this model is part of a set that comes in four color combinations - three are tailor made sets. First set out is the Black Mageweave and yeah, it's probably the most famous sexy outfit in the game.Yalena is wearing the pants, top and gloves on the screenshots. If you want to spend some gold on a slightly more covered up version of the tunic, then take a trip to the Consortium quartermaster and buy a Stormspire Vest. You don't really need a belt for this outfit but if you want to dress it up a bit try a weapon or helm; something like the Crystalfire Staff and/or Spring Circlet (for the bunny constume look) will work well. Also, for those without hooves: you might want to try Dress Shoes or some simple black boots.

Then there is Yalena's golden outfit consisting of Elegant Leggings and Tunic. The chest armor is also a quest reward in Hellfire Peninsula. From the Elegant set you can also wear the bracers, gloves and helm if you want. The helm reminds me of Wonderwoman. ;) However, if you want to go for a Argent Confessor Paletress lookalike, pair up your leggings and tunic with some Gossamer items (helm and belt) and Gnomish Casting Boots. Now shoulders are a little tricky as there is no white model out there. I'd suggest Gossamer shoulders. The Bonecaster's Star off-hand is the weapon she is using and the tabard is the Argent Crusader's Tabard.

Another lookalike is of course Whitemane, who is wearing the red model of this set: Cindercloth Vest and Pants. The helm you need for the outfit drops off the boss herself. The boots are Ashwalker's Footwraps and the gloves are Gloves of the High Magus. I don't really like wearing shoulders for this but you could for instance go for Crimson Silk Shoulders. And finally to complete your outfit go for the Invincible Stave.

If a purple outfit is what you desire, ask your tailor to make you a Frostweave Tunic. Then take a trip to Hellfire and grab Wanderer's Stitched Trousers (Hanu's nightmare). The bracers are the Crystalweave Bracers, Grips of the Void are the gloves and Windwalker's Footwraps are the boots. Unlike the abovementioned sets you will have to work a little to get some of the items for this purple outfit, but it may be worth it if you want a unique look.

I tried to mix things up a little on my own characters by adding a Tuxedo Shirt/Wound Dressing and the white Snowhide Hoof-Warmers to the Black Mageweave pants. The boots will however work best on Tauren and Draenei. If you actually have feet or don't like the furry boots, you can for instance try Pilgrim's or Astralaan Boots (the Astralaan belt works ok here too), but you will look way more dressed than intended. *laughs*

For a more custom black and red look, Elzi is wearing Ebon Filigreed Doublet, Darkcrest Belt and Mercurial Greaves with Black Mageweave Leggings. Once again the boots only work well on characters with hooves so replace them with Ashwalker's Footwraps (they look amazing on Draenei and Tauren as wel). For a more golden red look you can also wear Cindercloth Pants in stead of the Black Mageweave Leggings.

Another one of Yalena's favorites is the Eldr'naan set. And as Hanuma also has the full Eldr'naan (that she collected for kicks) you now get two models of this bubblegum meets biker chick green set that was such a common BC drop. The set consists of your usual helm, shoulders, gloves, bracers, belt, boots, pants and chest item, but it also has a bubble gum pink offhand. First of all, unless you are planning on dressing up like a dinosaur for Shattrath orphans, drop the helm. Secondly, if you really want to go all out with this outfit, get the following items: Pink Gumballs from the Ogre Pinata, Mekgineer's Chopper, Tiny Sporebat and a Light-Etched Longsword.

Lower level options are the Venomshroud and Hibernal sets. They are slightly different but you won't notice unless you are looking at the details.

Now I know that most people think this is the ugliest set in the game. This was the reason why I collected it in the first place and kept it in my bags for almost two years now. However, it has actually grown on me and I love it now. Still not convinced? Ok, then check out the Arachnidian set. In stead of green it is blue and in stead of the purple-pink, the markings are golden. There is also the purple Embrace of the Viper item set from the Wailing caverns.

The Arachnidian and Embrace of the Viper are pretty cool sets, and good options for those who like this model but don't want to stand out.

Mainly Mail and Plate?

Some bad news for clothies. This is pretty much the end of pure cloth sexy sets. Almost all of the super sexy gear out there is either mail or plate - most likely plate. As a mage I get that. We're supposed to be flashy but also we're always supposed to be elegant, well dressed and of course in robes. The same can be said for priests - holy ones at least. To me, the abovementioned gear is mainly for warlocks and perhaps the odd shadow priest. At least I'm not hiding my holier than thou attitude, eh? *laughs* So, here comes some sexy gear for the heavy armor wearers and I'll finish this post with what I find is more than sexy enough for a proper mage and priest.

And this is where miss Tay and her allts come in. This lady has some of the hottest gear I've ever seen.
For instance, take a look at this very simple outfit. It consists of Bloodscale Legguards and Breastplate. The boots are Thorium Boots. It's so hot that you don't need anything else. You can add the Bloodscale Bracers if you want, it might make the outfit cooler. But the belt... The buckle is heart shaped. *giggles* I guess if you want a romantic detail that really breaks with the theme of this really yummy outfit, go for it. Less is more here I'd say though.

I think we've all seen the Blood Knight set, but I doubt you've seen it like this. Wear your Blood Knight's Greaves, Gauntlets and Boots with Merciless Gladiator's Ringmail Spaulders and Engraved Breastplate. I love this combination. The colors are amazing, it shines and it doesn't show too much skin - apart from where it matters I guess. :D

If you are like me and still feel the need to cover up, here are parts of Djul's old red armor. She is wearing Glimmering Mail Legguards and Girdle (the bracers are also super pretty) with the Sun Cured Vest and Bracers. Dreamwalker Armor also looks amazing with this outfit.

And back to more revealing outfits! They don't have to be super shiny. The black set here consists of Thorium Boots, and Darkcrest Breastplate & Legguards.

Here's one more dark set for you and again it's very simple. The chestpiece is the Adamantite Breastplate, which also comes in other colors though I cannot remember which now. The gloves from this set are also pretty amazing. You really should get this if you can, it's worth it. Ebonhold Leggings are the pants and Revenant Greaves are the boots.
Also, if you find and wear a pair of scaly dark green pants with this...you'll fit even better in the image below... ;)

I don't really think I need to say anything about the outfit to the left other than that it's Amazing! Oh yes, and it's the Hyperion Armor and Legplates, worn with Glimmering Mail Bracers and Blood Knight Boots.
Elzi has the very same model in a different color scheme. The purple and silver set you are looking for is the Imbued Plate set. Easier to get are the Bejeweled Legguards as they also are a quest reward in Un'Goro.
There is also a third version of this set in bronze colors - it's really, really pretty - so check out Commander's set.

The only character I have that I don't mind dressing in racy outfits is Elzi. I think I see why now. Most of the good gear is plate or mail anyways.

But before I show you some of my fav sexy outfits, here is an unholy dk inspired outfit that I don't quite know what to think of. The kilt is the dk Acherus Knight's Legplates but that hypnotising breast-plate really is something. *giggles*
Its name is the Lofty Breastplate and according to JaneLame on wowhead comments it is avaliable in no less than four color combinations and three matching sets! If you like this, her links are at the bottom of the comment page.

My fav gear on Elzi is built around two models of chest armor and mainly one model of pant armor. The first chest item and pants are Jouster's Chestplate which I've matched up with Templar Legplates. Plaguebringer's Girdle and Sapphiron's Scale Boots make up the rest of the outfit. If you like these pants then the Templar set bracers and belt might be something for you.

Though there probably are several colors of this chestpiece, I have only come across the copper toned Embossed Plate Armor. It may not be as sexy as the other breastplates in this post but I like it simple so I've paired it up with a Thorium Belt, Buccaneer's Pants and Engraved Boots.

And now some options for one model that again is less daring and more me. I will try to make up for the less daring part with some sexy pants, I promise! *winks*
These are all mail armors, which is good news for at least some of us. Though wowhead doesn't show similar items, I know that there at least at three colors, but if you come across more, please let me know as I love these!

For the green Soldier's Armor I have chosen some very simple pants - Shimmering Trousers. The belt is the Gossamer Belt and the boots are the gorgeous Emerald Sabatons. It's not very revealing, I admit, but it is still damn sexy...perhaps in a more 'Hanuma likes' unusual way...
If you like green, do take a look at Soldier's set as almost all items are very detailed and unique- especially the bracers, belt and pants. This set also looks good on male characters.

I have already shown you these purple pants before in the Tabard article where Elzi is wearing little more than pants and a purple guild tabard. Well, if you don't have a purple guild tabard, you match your Revenant Leggings with a Felstone Chain Vest. These pants are the same model as the blue Templar Legplates and therefore the bracers and belt are just as impressive as the recommended ones above. The purple belt on the screenshot is the Infiltrator Cord and is a lower level green that is really worth keeping and it matches this top perfectly.
(By the way, the Infiltrator set is an adorable little leather set for lower level characters... ;)

Last but not least, there is the blue Nexus-Strider Breastplate. It works very well with the lighter blue Templar Legplates and the dark Engraved Saronite Legplates. But since we are talking about revealing and hot outfits I think the best combination is to pair this top up with the Warbear Woolies. The only thing I have added to the outfit is the Plaguebringer's Girdle. If I was to add anything else I think I would go for Nexus-Strider Bracers, or perhaps for a more tribal look: Ceremonial Leather Ankleguards. These are really cool - especially on Night Elf girls.

Speaking of Night Elf girls...and short shorts...
Here are three of Djul's short combinations:
The first one is a rather simple and quite revealing combination of Warbear Woolies and Tunic of the Nightwatcher. The Ceremonial Leather Ankleguards are perfect for this outfit. Boots for this just seem too civilized.

#2: Add Wolf Rider's Padded Armor and Bloodlust Boots to the Warbear Woolies.

#3 For a more rugged look: Peerless Leggings and Aboriginal Vest. (Try the white Ancestral Tunic.)

Holidays!
I think it's time to reveal what miss Tay wears during Noblegarden. You can either get the Spring Circlet or you can go for the Spring Flowers bouquet during Noblegarden. Both will put bunny ears on your character. The gorgeous purple top that tay is wearing is the Soulcloth Vest - another pattern a tailor can be proud of having (go farm KZ!). Barbaric Loincloth is the tiny tribal shorts and Husk Shard Sabatons are the boots. This is my fav sexy outfit of all time.

And don't forget the Winter Clothes! There isn't much you can do with those outfits as you cannot add belts to them but how about some red boots to go with your red outfit and winter hat? Try the red Bloodlust Boots or green Emerald Sabatons next time. How about a headband? Or perhaps a red hood and cloak? Maybe even add Bloodlust Bracelets or Crimson Bracers of Gloom to your red outfit? Unless I've missed something, I'm pretty sure you can wear bracers on top of the winter clothes. Makes it all a little more special.

Simple Yet Sexy
I'm a firm believer that simple and not too revealing outfits can be just as sexy as the most provocative items in the game. Plus they can be worn at any level. To make it even more basic, here are some of the shirts and tops that you can easily pair up with Tuxedo Pants and a few that require leveling.

Swashbuckler's shirts. These shirts are very simple. You don't need to add anything to an outfit that has a Swashbuckler's shirt in it because the cleavage it gives you is pretty much the only accessory you will ever need. :p

Warder's Shirt from the Blood Elf hunter starter outfit.

Now three soulbound shirts with level requirements...

This blue top is in essence a Swashbuckler's shirt without sleeves. Its name is the Azure Silk Vest and its match are the Azure Silk Pants. Though the colors are not exactly the same on the top and the pants, they do go well together and are only level 23 and 25 items. The belt on the screenshot is the Sleeper's Cord.

Burnished Tunic is the name of this golden mail top. The reason I am writing about this model in particular is that the entire set is quite pretty and that it comes in at least two more colors: very soft pink/purple that looks amazing on Blood Elves and a soft blue that looks really nice on Night Elves. It looks good on all races really but...you know what I mean. ;) There are several sets out there in each color, covering both lower and higher levels, but I can only remember the pink Netherstalker, which usually sells for quite a bit on the auction house, and the blue Sundered set. Trust me, these tops and sets are worth a look.

At the 'highest' level is a shirt that is revealing, sexy, out there and one of a kind and that is the Watcher's Tunic. It is a quest reward in Nagrand and I have never ever seen another shirt like it. Now what really makes the Watcher's Tunic special to me is not the cleavage and the open back, but the fact that you can change the way it looks. Yupp, you heard me. It's the only top in the game that has sleeve which will take on the color of whatever is underneath them - your skin tone, a shirt or even bracers. Pretty cool, eh? Plus it's hot.

LF a Robe?

So I saved the robes for last. I won't bug you too much with robes this time, and also there aren't really that many that I find sexy in the simplest sense.
There is one little robe, though, that I want to mention here and that is Buccaneer's Robes. It seems innocent enough with that pink/red colored simple kilt but the cleavage on that robe has for some years now been enough to stop any male player dead in his tracks. I've even started wearing shirts under it to avoid whispers... *sighs* Meaning: If you're looking for a robe that will get you attention without being too obvious about it, Buccaneer's Robes is your friend.

However, if attention is all you crave and being obvious doesn't matter to you, then there are four/five robes out there with your name on them. They are acutally all one model and I like to call them Princess Leah dresses, or my nightgowns (because that is pretty much the only time I will wear them). To me this is the perfect hot gear for priests and mages. But enough talk...Here they all are! Enjoy.

Cataclysm Sightseeing

Hi!

I made a few promises to some people to take a look at Cata, and I have. But, I don't want to spoil the expansion for Hanu so I have not done any questing on her, nor have I entered instances and the likes. I've just done a whole lot of sightseeing and of course leveled up one Worgen and one Goblin. ;)

Spoilers: Some new race leveling info - though not in too much detail, I promise. And a bunch of screenshots of Azeroth post Cataclysm.

Because I've actually covered every inch of Azeroth and I cannot possibly publish all those pictures here, I will publish them on Hanu's Picasa after this blog is up and link to it...here.

But where to start?! There's so much to show you! Hmmm...Goblins!

The starting area was sooo much fun! Giant turtles, pygmy men, gadgets, cars and zombies...

Bling, bling... new, fancy shades!

Everything is phased of course, so make sure to enjoy your time there while you can.

Phasing is done in a very fun way for the Goblins, where you for example have to use a Town In A Box to create your new leveling zone - it consists of course of a little box and a whole lot of explosives. *giggles* When you activate the box you are thrown in the air by the explosion and as you come back down a new leveling area is waiting for you.

Phasing makes leveling very relaxed and safe, as there is no way higher level characters can come in and bother you while you enjoy your first ten levels.

Did I mention you get a car right away? With a radio! ;D

Drop by for a lobster dinner in Stranglethorn Vale.

The amount of details put into the Goblin starting zone is amazing and the race itself has been given quite a lot of personality. Well, the Goblins have always had a lot of personality, just that now you actually get to see it in full force. As expected they are one hell of a party and gold loving race with a lot of binge drinking and eating, resulting in power struggles and a mess of a town. Add to that some interesting inventions and you are guarranteed to have a good time here.

This is perhaps why the Goblins were also given Azshara as their new home. In addition to this their presence is now quite imposing in a lot of old areas such as Thousand Needles, Stranglethorn and Orgrimmar, where they now have their own part of the city.

I honestly don't think that any race has granted so much fun and cool to their faction as the Goblins will do to the Horde.

Their presence in Azshara is huge and there is a lot of fun to be had there - we're talking golf course, swimming pool, sauna, deck chars, bar and a race track/roller coaster here! It's really, really, reeaaally cool! *envy*

All reservations about the Goblins disappeared after going through their starting zone quests plus Azshara, and I have to say that I am very tempted to make a Goblin of my own and do some proper leveling.

And now the more talked about Worgen. To be honest, I actually prefer the Goblins to the Worgen. There is something lacking that I cannot quite put my finger on. It could be that the zone, quests and female forms weren't finished when I leveled. Time will tell. Just wish they didn't have that strange British accent... *sighs*

But make no mistake. Gilneas is stunning and more so than any other zone in my opinion. I don't know what will become of this area outside the leveling phasing, but it would be a shame to use it just for that. The city itself is very interesting and the cathedral at its heart is stunning.

Yes, the leaves really do look like that in the game. ;)

More interesting to this blog though are the outfits displayed by NPCs in Gilneas. Top hats and old fashioned lady hats with lace and all that are everywhere and almost every Guilnean citizen is finely dressed. Men wear suits and ladies pretty dresses. Somehow it all reminds me of Karazhan.

Anyways, I expect that these models will be introduced as gear for all players to wear. The top hats already have - at least for Worgen players as they are a quest reward.

The dogs you can see below are of course the pets all Worgen hunters automatically recieve.

I'm also thinking that these dogs will be added as pets in some form or another and I wouldn't be surprised if the Forever-Lovely Rose becomes more accessible for those who did not get one during the valentine's festival.. But I haven't really checked any of this out. I will as soon as I have the time. :)

And then there are the new druid forms for the Worgen. I love these kittehs! The bear forms are pretty decent as well - they are more feral looking and remind me a little of Horde druid forms. No horns though.

And if you are going to play a Worgen and are jealous of the Goblins for getting to drive their own car, perhaps you will find some comfort in the fact that you will, at least for a little while, get to drive one of these. ;)

My fav little discoveries.

Before I show off some pretty scenery and changed zones, here are some screens of little things and that may not be noticed but that none the less make WoW what it is.

One of these is the addition of...FOXES! Yaay! Adorable! I want one as a pet nao!

Among the million things that have been improved in the game, my favorite is about flowers. They actually look like flowers now and the details are pretty amazing. These roses are from Gilneas, where you can find them growing in rose gardens, on buildings and even hung on walls to dry. These models will hopefully be implemented to other rose models in the game - especially to the florist in Dalaran. So far there are two colors in the game, white and red. More will surely come.

Pygmies of the Lost Isles! Be sure to have sound on while leveling your Goblin character because the sounds these little guys make are hilarious. Loved questing against them so much that i wish it had lasted longer. I'm sure we'll see much more of these guys - in Uldum for instance. And yes, that's my Goblin Pernille with a Pygmy hat that's a little too big...made me look like Marvin the Martian.

Prettier and more interesting Naga models. Again, while questing on my Goblin I ran into some very pretty Naga ladies. Looks like they have discovered clothes *giggles* I want that shirt and look.

Also, and even more fun, we now have baby Naga! Yupp! Baby Naga. Here's Pernille on her...hmmm... inflatable seahorse. Really hope we get to buy these...

With the Goblins come some pretty inventive and fun signs. On Kezan there are quite a few and I have already seen one like it in Stranglethorn, so there's probably more out there. Here's one of the Goblin trade prince and Kaja'Cola! It gives you IDEAS! <3

Hey, hey, hey! Feels like I've been away for an eternity...

Just posting to let you know that I am home again and that I will be getting back to work on the upcoming posts now, though it will be slow as Starcraft II entered our apartment and my husband and I are battling for computer access.

Did get enough time today to finally grab the blue drake from Oculus. One mount less on the wish list!

Anyways, upcoming posts are:

2. Fire Mage Red Update - which will be a part of mage gear posts on frost, fire and arcane gear.

....aaand it's about time I admit that I do have the Cata beta and that yes, I will be looking into it for you. Haven't really played it much as I haven't had the time at all. Wish I didn't have to live and sleep. *sighs*

Another World Events Update

Back from Greece and in another town already! Leaving the country again in five days so forgive me! :)

So, I'll try to start easy by giving you a small update on holidays that have passed. This time Valentine's, Noblegarden, Children's Week and Midsummer are over - an update is definitely in order. First things first.

Love is in the Air Revamped

Not big on holidays in the real world but in WoW, Love is in the Air is one of my favorite festivals. Since I have already done a post on lovely dresses, here are some pictures of what Hanuma did during this wonderful world event while I ramble on about loot and gear and all that.

Things have changed with this event. I am both pleased to see some new things being added and grumpy that some old ones were removed. Yes, I am still heartbroken that Blizz decided to remove the heart candy. The new, usable heart candy was a major disappointment. I wish that at least consuming one would give us an 'in love/happy' buff like the one you get from consuming a cupcake. In stead you eat it and nothing. *pouts*

On the other hand, I am glad to see that we finally got a proper quest chain for the suspicious perfume quest. The addition of new bosses was interesting, though I will echo so many others: Do we really need a boss and loot for every single festival out there?

Won't complain about the RP drops though. I was almost worried that I would not get the red rose helm to drop but it finally did! Ben got his gas mask. Yaay! And those boat rides were so much fun. Methinks the gas masks were introduced specifically for the Undercity boat rides... *giggles*

Mount collectors had something to work for this time as the highly desirable Big Love Rocket - a giant pink rocket mount that every engi should have.

I loved the names of the necks that dropped as well. Very RP friendly. My favorite ones are the Winking Eye of Love and Sweet Perfume Broach. Another two awesome additions are the Heartbreaker and the adorable Toxic Wasteling - a pet you shouldn't have with you when out looking for critters for your To All The Squirrels... achis as it has a bad habit of eating them. ;)

The dresses were so much easier to get now. Still don't know how I feel about that. Took me years to get all mine and now anyone could have all the dresses in one go? Naah, it's great, I'm just not always too good at sharing.

Isn't my date sexeh? Gotta love Draenei men! ;)

Hanuma is wearing her Forever-Lovely Rose with her Lovely Red Dress and Crimson Bracers of Gloom.
The animation of the rose helm is pretty nice on male characters as well. In addition to the Tuxedo, I find that the the Haliscan suit works very well. The combination of the Haliscan suit, rapier and Forever-Lovely Rose is perfect. And if you really want to impress, ride in on a black steed with your Don Carlos' Famous Hat and switch to the rose when you ask your lady of choice for a dance. *winks*

Really loved the new take on bracelets. If you hadn't noticed, this year we could actually wear the Lovely Charm Bracelets and they looked awesome. Only problem is again this idea that event items vanish when the event ends. *pouts* I wanted to keep these for my bank alt.

A tip for tall ladies who are sick of having guys stare at their...ehm... ;p Pygmy Oil! Just be careful not to drink too much of it. Unless you are trying to get rid of your date, in which case knock yourself out!

Noblegarden

Why is this the most competitive and brutal world event? Bunnies, pretty robes...all forgotten when the egg hunt starts. Every player turns into a meany and we all end up camping our little corner somewhere while the newer players run in circles screaming out in frustration. I even caught myself muttering some not so lady like words to a bunny, thinking he was camping my spot. Turned out the bunny wasn't a player at all.... Well... *sighs*

The rewards are mint in Noblegarden.
As a mage I am thrilled that we get a chance to pick up a Tome of Polymorph - Rabbit. The Spring Flowers bouquet is not only gorgeous to look at but it also allows you to put bunny ears on people. And it works all year around!

The tuxedo and pink robe are extremely pretty, and let's not forget the Spring Robes! The former robe is a light pink version of the wedding dress while the latter is a gorgeous alternative for tribal wear enthusiasts that are searching for a more romantic look. All the gear is yummy really.

Add to that a bunny pet, Spring Circlet and an egg basket and you're all set for Easter.

What I enjoyed most though, is putting bunny ears on players and the cooperative spirit that comes with this particular hunt. But seen as I had completed all the achievements for this event last year, I was kind of bored. Give us something new next time, perhaps?

Children's Week

I love this event! Heaven for pet collectors! Check the event info for a list of all eight pets: three in Azeroth capitals, three in Outland and two in Dalaran.Some of the achievements are not very kid friendly but still definitely in true warcraft spirit.

Even though my computer broke down just as this event was starting, I managed to get the quests done and added Sleepy Willy and Piglet's Collar to my almost complete pet collection. I was really sad that I could not finish the last achievement for the Matron title, but that should give me something to do next year.

But...

What happened to the Dalaran Orphan quests?? Apparently, Blizzard was not interested in fixing the problem for players who have already done this once so we'll have to wait. Oracle orphan, I'm looking forward to showing you the world next year - if Blizzard will let me...

Midsummer Fire Festival

Since I am always out traveling during the summer, this was my first Midsummer event and I am very impressed. There's a lot to do! Loved the excuse flame collecting gave me to travel the world all over again and even sneak into Horde cities. On an RP realm this is a fairly easy thing to do as most players are quite friendly. *hugs DMF Horde*

The achievements needed for the Flame Warden/Keeper titles were almost too easy. In my opinion this is an awesome title for all fire mages out there, and some shamans as well I guess...

But the loot...some of it good, some of it so and so. The amount of blossoms you need to collect to get the full Midsummer Reveler set and all the other fun stuff is huge. As I was away for parts of this event, I didn't manage to get enough for outfit, pet and brazier.
Obviously my first choice was the full set and then I took the Captured Flame pet. This was a mistake.

Even for a pet collector like me, this Spirit of Summer pet was a big disappointment. I don't know why I didn't check this out beforehand but what I thought I was buying was the adorable, fabulous and cool Scorchling. Only later did I find out that this awesome pet was no longer available in the game. *sad, sad fire mage*

So take my advice and go for the really cool Brazier of Dancing Flames in stead of the dull red wisp pet.

If you have some flowers to spare and don't want to spend them on buff food, I would suggest the summer petals. They are much more colorful than others and at least these can be stacked up and used ten days after the festival ends. Just remember to remove any petals you may have that are of shorter duration, as they all convert to the timer of petals you already have in your bags.

Quest rewards of note are the Crown of the Fire Festival, Tabard of Summer Flames and Tabard of Summer Skies. Apparently there is a trick you can use to get both tabards at the same time. For more information on that, read the comments on wowhead.

The Crown of the Fire festival is nice but it often looks more like a halo than anything else. Other options for those who want a more red helm are: Crown of Destruction, Crown of Endless Knowledge, Satin Hood and Tourmaline Crown.

Crown of Empowered Fate is one awesome plate helm and will fit your Midsummer outfit perfectly. Hanuma has chosen to go with the Mage-Collar of the Firestorm.

But the best helm for a Midsummer outfit has to be the rare Circle of Flame. Not only is it a Crown of the Fire Festival lookalike but it is on fire and has a use function that will wrap your character in Evocation like flames! If you want to see this bit of awesome in a screenie, check out BearPelt's blog. ;)
With this helm and the choice of walking in fire or having your hands on fire - by using the Midsummer outfit - you will really look hot.

Also, if you are not pleased with your Mantle of the Fire Festival, try the Mantle of Three Terrors or the less known Incanter's Pauldrons. The pauldrons are brown and yellow in color and suit the Midsummer robe very well. All three shoulder items can be seen on the screenshots.

Other good additions to the Midsummer Reveler set are these two shirts: Golden Filigreed Doublet for a golden look, and Red Swashbuckler's Shirt if you want something red.

There are only two really impressive drops from this event's boss encounter and these are: the Frostscythe of Lord Ahune and the adorable little Frigid Frostling pet. No luck for me this year as I got neither. ;(

The cloaks all look the same and you can easily find an equivalent through a simple AH scan so nothing impressive there at all. But still, Midsummer is an awesome world event that will def keep you busy for a week or so.

Not sure what will be changed for next year, but I am really looking forward to it and hoping for a return of the Scorchling. *hopes*

Druid Outfits

Sorry about the delay! Farming gear in Outland has been a challenge... *sighs* Huuuge thanks to Dengan and Galan for their assistance. Without them I would not have wonderful gear to show off. Also thanks to Ben, Daeon, Harm and Magni for helping out. But now, here's your druid outfit inspiration! :)

Night Elf and Tauren cultures are your influences to the druid class - I would say that the Elven culture dominates though. The main distinction between the two is that the Tauren worship the Earthmother, while the Elves worship Elune. As a consequence, the Tauren have very earthy outfits, while the Elves seem to have more complex and darker outfits. Well, that and geography. ;) Still, both styles are very practical and casual - very unlike us mages. Keeping this in mind, I've tried to create outfits that could work for both, but I'm afraid I've been Alliance for far too long to create very good Tauren inspired druid outfits.
But...Ok, let's get started!

Sets...

I don't usually like to recommend full sets but in this case I have to as there are so many nice ones that you at the very least can use bits and pieces of. Here is my favorite druid, Sumec Bear, in some of his nicest druid gear. *pats bear*

What you can see in the image above and the first image in this post is the T8 Nightsong set. The most unique features are of course the shoulders and helm, but the robe and gloves are wonderful as well. I believe it also comes in two color combinations: the Conqueror's Nightsong you see here and the Valorous Nightsong , which is golden/brown - so check it out if this is the set for you. Dreamy...

Next one on the list is the forever lovely T2 Stormrage Raiment. If I had a druid, she'd probably be wearing this. The mace Sumec is carrying is Jin'do's Hexxer from Zul'Gurub but if you want something easier to get go for the Mallet of Zul'Farrak. The tabard is the Arathor Battle Tabard.

A lot of sets have look alikes that drop from normal and heroic mode instances in Outland, and this one does as well. For information on the Stormrage Lookalike go....here. Looks pretty good really.

For a more earthy feel, I would recomment the Thunderheart Harness. If you are a Tauren druid that really wants to carry on the down to earth feel of Tauren culture, then this is a set for you.
The robe is just gorgeous and well...the entire set has a certain RAWR to it! The staff on the image is the Pillar of Ferocity and you can find it in Hyjal Summit.

And it just occured to me that though pretty much every bit of gear in a druid set is amazing, the shoulders always steal the show. So if you are like me and don't want to walk around in full sets, at least know that you as druids are pretty lucky when it comes to amazing shoulder items that you can match up with any kind of gear.

And then the Cenarion Raiment...need I say more? The T1 Cenarion is probably the most famous druid set out there, and for a reason. The shoulders alone bring you as close to nature as you can get without actually hiding in bushes... I see that as a plus...

The Cenarion Raiment also has a recoloured version in Outland. Here is Djul in her Early Autumn Set. In my mind it is what the Cenarion set would look like if it bloomed through summer and was on its way into fall. The gloves are not a part of the set though. Their name is Imperial Leather Gloves.

One of the easiest sets to farm is the Wildheart Dungeon Set 1. It is also one of the loveliest and most popular druid sets out there. For an entire set you will need to farm Scholomance, Stratholme and Blackrock Spire. It is a fairly easy farm from what I have experienced. I have however chosen not to get this one for you so here are some cheat screens. ;)

If you like the looks of it but want to make it a little more special, try upgrading it to the blue Dungeon Set 2 - Feralheart Raiment. This upgrade is druid only and be warned, it is both time and gold consuming to do this. I remember I found upgrading my mage set annoying at times. So no easy fix, this one.

Your second alternative is the recolored version of DS2 that can be farmed from Outland instances on normal mode. This set will also most likely be your easiest level 70 farm as you can reset and reenter the dungeons as often as needed til you have your items. Also hardly any reputation will be necessary for this farm. Here is Djul in her recolored version alongside some Northrend druids at Star's Rest.

The male druid is wearing another recolored version of the DS1. It is not mentioned on WoWWiki and I have not checked every bit of gear that he has on him, but I know for sure that you can get that kilt. The name you are looking for is: Forestwalker Kilt.
The female is wearing parts of the DS1 and DS3 Moonglade Raiment - only in the case of the DS3, in colors that are not avaliable to us players (that I know of). Sorry folks!
Djul is also wearing a Cerulean Filigreed Doublet under her chest armor.

Now to get back to what I was saying about general druid gear. All these sets are amazing, but looking at NPCs across Azeroth and Outland, most of them are very casual in the way they dress. I decided to do the same with my outfits as well (or as casual as I can go...).

Starter Outfits and More...

I'll start with the well known Night Elf druid robe - Novice's Robe. It looks awesome on male and female characters as well as on both Night Elves and Tauren.
For bracers and belt that match perfectly, use the Mistyreed items. The Mistyreed set is simply a pant set version of the Novice's Robe. Djul is wearing her robe with Misryreed bracers and belt. The helm is the Crown of the Forest Lord.

If you don't want to mess about with cross faction transfers, you can go for recolored models of this robe: Solstice and Consortium Robe. I really like the Night Elf feel of this model - the dusky colors and all.
For the sleeved look, and a little less cleavage hehe, I added the Black Swashbuckler's Shirt. The belt is the Feathered Sash and the cane is actually the Silver-thread Rod off-hand.

Another gem of this model and my personal favourite is the Willow Robe.
I would recommend this one to all Tauren druids as a tribute to the gorgeous scenery of Mulgore and Thunder Bluff. It's too light and cheerful for the Night Elves anyways.

As suggested, using set shoulders is a very easy way to pimp up a custom outfit. I went for the Mantle of Autumn here. The belt is Feathered Waistband, gloves are Atal'ai Gloves and this amazing staff is the Vengeance Staff.

And if you prefer the Tauren druid starter robe, then there are a few alternatives to choose from. You can get the Pilgrim's Robe from the Pilgrim's Bounty event, which will also suit all levels.

But my fav version is Greenweave Robe. Shoulders I like with this robe are the Bog Spaulders. Any earthy or green belt or bracers will work with it as well and for the feral/earthy feel, try a wolf helm such as Embrace of the Lycan.

Some other starter sets that you can use are the Night Elf priest set and the Troll shaman set.
The Primitive Kilt and Mantle are amazing bits of gear for an earthy set. You can create more combinations since it's a kilt plus chest armor set and that is quite rare for low level items. Oh and they also work very well with Darkwater Bracers.
The Night Elf robe and staff are both good items for druids if you like color.

More Earthy Combinations and Brown Outfits

I've tried to create some simple combinations of brown items for you. This is really not my thing, but I hope that you find some inspiration still. For starters, I experimented a bit more with the Earthborn Kilt since the outfits in the Tribal post were not leather only. So here are three different and very simple sets with this kilt.

The first set consists of Feathered Headdress, Huntsman's Shoulders, Drakewing Bands, Mistyreed Belt and Tracker's Boots. The chest is a simple grey item called Crochet Vest. I like the rugged look of this set, so check it out if you like the chest.

For a more put together look, try one of the following twooutfits. The first set is very clean cut and simple. The chest is Warden's Wraps and the belt and bracers are from the Swashbuckler's set. The torch is the off-hand from the Mistyreed set.
If this kilt is not complicated enough for you, check your auction house for the Warchief Kilt.

The second outfit is a bit more imposing. The shoulders are of course the Ravenwing Pauldrons and Archer's Jerkin is the name of the awesome chestpiece. The entire Archer's set is amazing really, and definitely worth checking out.

Drakewing Bands are the bracers and they are a level 20 item. Quite pretty for that level really. Tracker's boots and belt are the two last items you need to complete this set. I went for the very simple branch staff here - you can get it from Tauren druid starter outfits.

On the lookout for a brown robe? Here is my favorite: Opulent Robes.
For this post, I've tried to add some green to it byt using Tracker's boots and belt as well as Drakewing Bands and Mithril Bark Cloak. This robe has no sleeves so Djul is wearing a Rustic Workman's Shirt under her robe. The shoulders are Ironfeather Shoulders and the helm is the Dragonhawk Hat - from what I can see, this is the only version in leather out there. Parts of the Thunderheart set might work well with both this robe and the sets above - especially the shoulders.

Pants, Pants, Pants...

Although druids mostly wear kilts and robes, there are some very nice brown and green pants out there. For a brown look, try finding Archer's Trousers on the AH (left image). Here you can also see the Ironfeather Armor - breastplate and shoulders. Under the breastplate, Djul is wearing Scout's Shirt. Again, the boots are Tracker's Boots and the bracers are Drakewing Bands.

You can also try these brown pants: Umbrafen Britches (right image). Embroidered Boots are the brown boots and the helm is the Dragonhawk Hat. Otherwise the items are as above.

For green pants, your first and most obvious choice would be the Mistyreed Pants (left). They are perfect for druids and go with a lot of items. I also like the Willow Pants (right) and Scout's Pants (below).

Scout's Pants are Draenei shaman and hunter starter pants and are really worth it if you want easy to get green pants.

And last but not least: Ranger Leggings. I stumbled across these while I was testing out the fifteen pairs of brown and green pants I had bought. Though not particularly shiny or super cool, they turned out to be the same pants the Night Elf mount vendor wears. So I had to add them to the list.

If you want to dress like this NPC, here is what I've found fits: Tracker's Tunic, Belt and Boots, and Ranger Leggings. I've added Shout's Shirt and Elunarian Cuffs.

I am also a firm believer in color and have put together some 'alternative' outfits for those who don't mind standing out in a crowd.

First of these outfits is this Star's Rest/Northrend inspired blue outfit that I think would work well for a druid with a taste for the cool. Wear Azure Silk Pants with Talonite's Boots, Lo'Ap's Tunic, Mistscape Cloak and Spaulders of the Ring. The belt is Patched Leather Belt and the gloves are Thick Leather Gloves.

You can also try the Thick Leather Tunic, in stead of Lo'Ap's Tunic. By the way, this tunic as well as the gloves are worn by the Tauren in Northrend. The Thick Leather set is also a grey equivalent of the green Trickster set, which I find can at times be very pricy on the AH. So why not go for a non-soulbound set that is cheaper?
A mace that matches these sets perfectly, if you want one, is Arechron's Gift.

Purple is not a mage only color, so I made a simple pant set for you, inspired by the Wildheart Bracers. The pants are the Darkweave Breeches and the top is the Darkmoon Vest. Add High Councillor's Boots to your feet and a Feathered Sash to your waist and you're good to go. If you have more Wildheart items, try adding them. I think they would go well with this set. Especially the helm.

If you prefer a darker blue get the Leggings of the Sly/Moonchild Leggings and wear them with Glyphed Breastplate and Boots. The gloves are Raven's Claws and they are only level seventeen - which is pretty awesome. The belt is the Mighty Girdle. Also, try wearing this with a blue mask. Djul is wearing Abjurer's Hood.
But...I'm afraid I have to disappoint you on the shoulders. They are mail and I have not been able to find a blue leather equivalent of this model. Sorry!

Also, to make matters worse, here is the closest I have gotten to the flightmaster outfit. Feathered Breastplate is the chest, Raven's Claws are the gloves, the pants are the Warpscale Leggings and the boots are Arcane Boots. And of course I forgot to put on my belt, so I'll just mention the name for you: Mighty Girdle. If you are a tribal leatherworker, you can make Wildfeather Leggings but they are grey so they still won't match. Though most of this gear is leather there are two very odd bits that are mail and even plate.

Plate!? Yupp. This helm, that is clearly a part of the set is for some reason plate. So here's an outfit for all you ex-druid death knights out there...or something... o.O
(Oh, and ignore that Elzi is a draenei...)

Ok! Back to wearable druid stuffs!

Tops and Kilts

For more simple kilt options, I based my three versions on the three chest items from the Glyphed, Swashbuckler's and Tracker's sets. This is because all three are often seen on Night Elf and druid NPCs - like for instance this Winterspring druid, who is wearing her Glyphed Breastplate over a robe.
Djul is wearing her Glyphed Breastplate over a Stylish Blue Shirt. The kilt is a quest reward from Mana-Tombs and is called Haramad's Leg Wraps. The belt is the Mighty Girdle. By the way, Scouting Boots look like the boots the elf is wearing.

Short reminder of the outfit I made with Abjurer's Robe and Druidic Helmet of Second Sight: Check out the last outfit in a previous post of mine! :)

Now back to kits and tops. As mentioned, the Glyphed model also comes in green and red. A simple red combination is to match the Swashbuckler's top, bracers and boots with a Colorful Kilt. For a long sleeve effect, try wearing a Scarlet Filigreed Doublet or Red Swashbuckler's Shirt. If you want gloves, try the red ones from the same set. You can also wear this top with the Mystic Sarong or the Bloodtinged Kilt. The latter one is a red version of the blue kilt above.

For the green option, the set you are looking for is the Tracker set. This is the Darnassus mount vendor top from above. I find that this top works very well with the Zul'Farrak kilt, Jinxed Hoodoo Kilt. Horde characters can also go for the Mistspray Kilt with the blue top.

There are far too many kilts in the game for me to mention them all. Perhaps in a different post I will.
Still there is one that deserves a spot and its name is the Simple Kilt. Like the three tops you have just seen, this kilt is also worn by NPCs. Darnassian bankers, for instance, wear the Glyphed Breastplate with a version of the Simple Kilt.

I've chosen to try a more feathery approach with mine.
Djul is wearing Feathered Breastplate, Raven's Claws, Mighty Girdle and Blue Linen Shirt with her Simple Kilt. The shoulders are again Grunt's Pauldrons and they are still mail. *hides*

Another familiar kilt that is fairly easy to get is the Mystic Sarong. The fact that it is a level 24 item makes it to me one of the more versatile kilts out there. And it looks fabulous too.
Djul is wearing Bloodfire Talons and Wolf Rider's Padded Armor with her kilt.

However, a most interesting match to this kilt turned out to be the Dreamweave Vest.
It's a very colorful combination that I guess not everyone will like, but this is one of my fav outfits. Under her Dreamweave Vest, Djul is wearing a Green Holiday Shirt. The gloves are Dreamweave Gloves, the belt is again Mighty Girdle and the shoulders are Ironfeather Shoulders.
The helm is the green Feathered Headdress.

The Dreamweave Vest also works well with the Jinxed Hoodoo Kilt. All the items are as above.

But now... If you are of a higher level and can do a bit of Outland farming, I would suggest you get your hands on this kilt: Forestwalker Kilt.

It is a grey-green recolour version of the Wildheart kilt and a pretty nice match for your Dreamweave Vest and Gloves.
Djul is wearing her Dreamweave Vest and Gloves with the kilt, Mighty Girdle and Cerulean Filigreed Doublet. The antlers are Crown of the Forest Lord and the armored hood is the Moonglade Cowl.

Still haven't found something you like? Try one of the following tops. From the left you have the Gypsy Tunic, Hunting Tunic and Hawkeye's Tunic. If you want more examples of how to match these up with pants or kilts, take a look at my post on Tribal wear.

Another three green tops that I like a lot are these: Green Woolen Vest, Willow Vest and Greenweave Vest.

I have already mentioned some shirts that work well with druid outfits. For example, the Rustic Workman's Shirt is amazing under most brown and black outfits. For green shirts - and you might really need one if you're wearing the Green Woolen Vest - I'd recomend the following:
Stylish Green Shirt (if you are looking for the robe of this model and colour, it's Beastwalker Robe), Green Holiday Shirt and Scout's Shirt.

I have mentioned quite a lot of sets you can use for your outfits, but I have just a few more. The set you are looking at to the right here is the Elunarian set. Just like Glyphed, Tracker's, Archer's set and so on, pretty much all items are useable. And what's even better about this set is... It comes in four more color combinations. Some items vary from set to set, so check them out before Ah shopping: Celestial, Resplendent, Eternal and Bonecaster's.

If you are looking for more interesting kilts, here is a list of some noteworthy ones.

In Sunken Temple you can pick up a Troll inspired kilt in dark brown and turquoise. Its name is Windscale Sarong.
Luminary Kilt and T'chali's Kilt are kilt versions of the Highborne Robe. The latter one is Horde only.

From Outland you should take a look at these: Nature-Stitched Kilt from Hellfire Penninsula is Pretty (capital letter pretty). Kilt of Immortal Nature is just as pretty but you will have to take a trip to the Black Temple to get it and the drop rate is so and so.
Alliance druids can get their hands on the brown Kurenai Kilt. It is a dark brown version of Draenic Silk Robes, just remember that you need to be revered to wear this.

Lastly, two Northrend kilts for you. From the Sons of Hodir quartermaster you can buy a Giant-Friend Kilt and in Old Kingdom you can get your hands on Kilt of the Forgotten One. It's a brown version of the robe you can see just below. ;)

Northrend Gems

There are two bits of gear from Northrend that deserve a spot here and these are the Ymirjar Physician's Robe and the chest version of that robe - Greenhealer's Garb. You can find these two on the AH as they are pretty frequent drops. So if you have the level requirements and want to wear something pretty that not too many people wear, these are the items for you. I really don't know why these two armors are ignored, they are honestly the nicest models the Northrend design team has come up with and can match any set in intricacy and beauty.

Yummy Robes

In the tribal post, I mentioned that there are two robe versions of the Dreamweave Breastplate. One of them is fairly easy to get and is called Arcanoweave Robe. It can be crafted by tailors and the pattern drops in Mechanar. You can also check out Arcanoweave Bracers while you're at it. They are very pretty.

Embrace of the Wind Serpent is green and golden and an extremely rare drop from the Sunken Temple. I have not been able to get my hands on this robe, but it's definitely worth the farm.

But if you would rather wear a feathery helm in stead of the mask, then you have three options:
Feathered Headdress (green), Murkblood Cover (brown/orange) and Tribal Worg Helm (red).

Robe number two is the sexy Venomshroud Silk Robe.
Djul is wearing her robe with Mistyreed shoulders, gloves and bracers. The belt is the Feathered Waistband and the helm is Feathered Headdress. I know druids cannot use bows, but that is what Djul is carrying in this picture, Honorable Longbow. I know, however, that you can get a staff that looks similar to this so keep reading.

There are two other versions of this robe out there. The first one is a green item, dropping from level 50 rares. Its darker green in color and its name is Arachnidian Robes.
The second one is a gorgeuos yellow/orange version and drops only from a rare spawn in the Hinterlands. The name of the robe is Chan's Imperial Robes and the rare that drops it is Mith'renthis the Enchanter. Good luck with the farming!

And then the last two groups of robes... These robes range from the very simple to get to a robe that truly is one of the rarest robes ingame. I will just link to most of them, so you can check them out on your own. Only the prettiest ones are given room here.

First, there are the Lunar Festival outfits. For five Coins of Ancestry you can purchase a green, purple or pink Festive Dress. Tailors can also get a pattern to create a fourth robe, which is red. The Lunar Festival is very much a druid event and I think if anyone has dibs on the robes it must be the druids. There are of course also pant suits as well for those who prefer that.

Then there are the Hanboks and Dangui robes and they are all perfect for druids.

You can buy White Traditional Hanbok, Dark Green Wedding Hanbok and Royal Dangui from vendors in Undercity, Stormwind and Moonglade.

The real gems, however, can only be found in Moonglade. Geenia Sunshadow sells only one of each of the following three robes: The Red Traditional Hanbok is simple and classic, the Green Wedding Hanbok is youthful and cute. Both of these can be found fairly easily if you camp this vendor often. The last one though took me well over a year to get. Its name is Formal Dangui and is yummy! Here is what it looks like. :) Don't forget the Knitted Sandals!

Staves!

To me, the ultimate druid weapon is the staff and it doesn't really have to be flashy. I'd say the best druid staves are simple and the material should be wood. Already mentioned staves are the starter staves from both Horde and Alliance. But if you want something more fancy, yet elegant and with very simple design then I wholeheartedly recommend the Gnarled Ash Staff and Explorer's Walking Stick.

Paw- staves, as I call them, are also good druid staves. There's something both adorable and feral about them. If you still haven't figured out what I'm talking about then look at the pictures. ;) Djul's staff is the Braxxis' Staff of Slumber.

If you like staves with feathers, then try the green Resurgence Rod. There are many variations of this model so you should be able to find one to fit any color scheme. Staff of Rampant Growth might also be something to look into if you like this type of weapon.

But if you really want something imposing and shiny, then Northrend is your friend. Even though I am not too fond of Wrath gear, there are a lot of pretty decent weapons for level eighties. I'm a huge fan of the Twisted Visage and Intensity staves as well as all the different models of the Lifebinder staff. And there is sooo much more out there!

For level seventies my favourites are the Wildfury Greatstaff, Pillar of Ferocity and the BoJ Staff of the Forest Lord. But there are easier to get staves, like for example Terokk's Shadowstaff and Draenic Wildstaff. The latter is a must see! It looks like an overgrown Night Elf starter staff but the animation added to makes it THE most perfect staff for druids. Flowers and tiny mushrooms spring up among the leaves. Definitely worth a farm.

Pets, Pets, Pets...

It shouldn't be hard for a druid to find a pet that suits him or her. There is a pet for each major druid form. Yes, Alliance druids have it easy here, as you will see from my main choices of pets.

If you are a kitty and want a suitable companion, then go for the kittens sold by Donni Anthania in Elwynn Forest. They come in all imaginable colours! And don't forget therarer White Kitten and Black Tabby. Black Tabby is the only cat that is directly avaliable to Horde only, and even then, this kitty needs to be farmed.
If you want a less conventional kitty pet choice, you could always get Whiskers the Rat or a Giant Sewer Rat.

Bears can choose between the black Dun Morogh Cub and the white Baby Blizzard Bear. The white one is of course only avaliable to players that were there for WoW's fourth aniversary.

Night Elf druids can easily get their hands on Teldrassil Sproutling, which is a mini tree pet and matches the druid tree form perfectly - it even does the dance. :) But don't worry Tauren druids. I am sure you have already seen these pets for sale on your auction houses or at least on the goblin cross-faction auction houses. The prices are not as bad as they used to be either, so you should be able to get your hands on a pet or two without going broke. *pats*

And don't forget the race specific pets! Night Elves have owls and Tauren have the adorable prairie dog and Mulgore Hatchling.

In WoW we wage war on a daily basis...we kill eachother, we blast our targets into oblivion, we try to poke at Arthas weekly. The difference between our beloved WoW and Real Life is that if we lose we get up and try again, if you beat me on the battleground you prove your skills and the lack of mine and in time all mobs will respawn. In real life a loss of a human life, a kitten, a critter is permanent.
And we who play WoW know the difference, don't we?

What is it about this insane world of ours that allows ninjas like the Israeli army to take it as their right to attack a humanitarian convoy of ships in International Waters? It makes me sad and above all it makes me angry.
Police Operation? Excuse me??? What gives Israel the right to police INTERNATIONAL WATERS? Fail!
Big fail Israel... *disappointed*

I am also sorry if my readers' views do not match mine, but I feel it is something that fills my mind more at this moment than what outfits I need to farm. Because the lives of those people who wanted nothing other than to aid others in need will not be ressed. There is no spirit healer for them. There is no mage to conjure water and food for those who starve in Palestine. Or anywhere else in this rotten world for that matter.

Druid Outfits Coming Soon!
Finally! The Crown of the Forest Lord dropped today in Underbog Heroic.

This was the last bit of gear I said to myself that I would farm before I properly put together outfits, take screenshots, edit them and finally deliver a finished post on druid gear.

So...just letting you know that...it's finally coming!
But now...bed!

Arcane Mage with Higher Learning?

A simple post from me this time. Just wanted to share my outfit for arcane mages with Kirin Tor Familiars - wonder why it took me so long to get it out here. Anyways...

I wanted to find an outfit that suited the color of arcane magic with whites, blues and purples and it wasn't an easy task really. I find many items to be either too light or too dark and not quite shiny enough. *laughs* You know how I like my mages shiny. Of course it had to look grand enough for a mage! ;)

Well, I settled down with stealing parts of the Vestments of the Devout set for this outfit. Sorry priests! It was the only robe that I really liked and that matched the pet perfectly.

The outfit consists of the following items:
Devout Robe
Devout Belt
Devout Gloves
Scintillating Headdress of Second Sight
Vestia's Pauldrons of Inner Grace
Staff of Dominance

Add to that your Kirin Tor Familiar from the Higher Learning achievement and you'll get a few looks for sure.

Speaking of the Higher Learning achievement... I really wish this particular achievement was mage-only. I wish every class could have their own special achievements like Higher Learning and finally leave Vargoth to us mages. *mumbles grumpily*

Rogues could for example have a space in the Dalaran sewers that can only be entered in stealth, and a pet that can stealth as well. I'm thinking some rogues would like to take their pets out to battlegrounds without worrying about being detected.
Shamans could have an elemental plain and an elemental pet (maybe choose between and air or earth elemental?), while druids could have some form of meditation tree. Warriors could have a Valhalla and paladins and priests a chamber of Light. Warlocks could have a portal to a chamber of rituals and a mini demon or imp for a pet... *drifts off*

One of my faults in WoW as in life has been hoarding. Or, if you wish, I collect everything. Something like that.
In WoW I started off with pets, continued with clothes and somewhere along the line I found I had also collected a small library of ingame books. With that in mind, plus a growing bagspace problem, I decided to create a librarian. Meet Lillith Pimbury - librarian at day, rogue at night. She is my Indiana Jones, my Clark Kent...

Why is the rogue a perfect librarian? And why do we stick to our preconceptions of class and professions?
I will admit that even for me a priest or a class of the higher social order and 'scholarly' attunement sounds more suited for the profession of librarian. However, I find that a rogue is perfect for stalking the library corridors and sneaking up on unsuspecting souls looking for a book. *grins* Try it, you might just like it.

Secondly, the pickpocketing skill is needed to attain some of the books you definitely should be adding to your collection as a librarian. To me, Lillith is a tribute to all those rogues who commited theft on a regular basis in order to keep my book supplies up.

Now what do you need to be a librarian?

There are a few books you can actually lend out (trade).
Most famous are the romance novels - A Steamy Romance Novel, Forbidden Love and Northern Exposure - of which my personal favourite is the second one published. Though I have not gotten my hands on this one yet, there is a fourth edition out there: Blue Moon.
There is also a cookbook and a self help book for the dead (Beetlejuice refrence?).

For those interested in warfare, more precicely tactics on defeating the opposing faction on battle grounds, there are the good old Peeling the Onion and The Frostwolf Artichoke. Yes, yes, even I know the tactics may be outdated, but who cares? Oh, and don't buy these on the AH as you can get them for no cost at their vendors. I made that mistake once and never again.

Don't foget notes and letters!
After hours and hours spent hunting messages in bottles scattered across Stranglethorn Vale, I have also collected the torn, ripped and crumpled letters written by the captive tauren Princess Poobah.

For those interested, the only attainable photograph that I have come across is Faded Photograph. Of course there is the Autographed Picture of Foror and Tigule but...yes, the mystery remains unsolved as you cannot see the image. I am sure they did this so I could not track them down and ask for chocolate ice cream. Sneaky.

Your death knights have most likely managed to gather a small collection on their missions against the Scarlet Crusade: Turning the Other Cheek, News From the North, Priestly Preening: Be Like Your Betters. The last one is quite a good read.

Certificate of Thievery made me giggle and think of Terry Pratchett's wonderful Ankh-Morpork Guild of Thieves, Cutpurses and Allied Trades, where every thief had to carry his membership card on him when out "working". I have a feeling someone working for Blizz is a fan. *smiles*

Soulbound tomes.
In addition to all this, those of the Alliance can get their hands on the Story of Morgan Ladimore and Legends of the Gurubashi. However, these books are soulbound. Such a shame.. But you could arrange some reading aloud sessions ;)
There are other soulbound books ingame, like for instance Diary of Weavil and Bloodstained Journal. If you are annoyed about not being able to trade these books, keep reading for an interesting solution:

Gryphonheart Items Addon.

As usual, when I get an idea in my head I go all out on it, so I actually mailed poetry and short stories to my librarian in order to pick up a copy of them as parchments. This way of creating your own ingame literature is doable, but not very practical. It takes a lot of bagspace as you cannot glue them together into a book, you cannot name your pieces of paper which makes it hard to keep your bags tidy and one single bit of paper does not give much writing space.
But!
Some time ago, I came across an addon that does exactly what I have been attempting to do. The name of this awesome little addon is Gryphonheart Items. It creates an extra bag that you can fill with books and items you create yourself, which you can also share with other players who have the addon. Love it!
This will also solve your soulbound tomes problem. Here is my copy of Alicia's poem. Yes, you can decorate the papers with images and choose the background. ;)

Outfits?

As for a librarian outfit, I am really not sure what to tell you. As miss Lillith is merely a level seven rogue, her clothing options are limited at the moment.
There are some ingame exampless. Kirin Tor librarians wear the purple Kirin Tor uniform or the Dalaran Wizard's Robe. Official librarians of Stormwind can be seen in the all white Aurora Robes but there are exceptions as pant outfits range from the finely dressed Milton Sheaf to the plainly dressed private librarian Gilroy and Ironforge librarian Mae Paledust. If you want to look really fancy, you can dress like the Scryer librarians and loremasters by wearing an Imbued Netherweave Robe. If you are Aldor, consider the Anchorite's Robes.

What Lillith often wears though are the Draenic Silk Robes, Knitted Belt, brown boots and gloves. She also carries a Sharpened Letter Opener and will at some point also have a Venomous Tome in her hand. Inside her bags is a well protected Rogue's Diary and an Elegant Writing Tool.

I have already covered an option for a librarian outfit in my post on theLovely Dress. But to refresh your memory, here is an image of Hanuma in a Lovely Black Dress, Tuxedo Pants and Shirt, Cincture of Polarity and Duskwoven Bracers. She is also wearing a Noble's Monocle and carrying the Tome of the Lost.

The benefit of having a rogue librarian in stead of a priest or mage is that you can go from really fancy robes to cool casual wear. In her spare time Lillith slips into a Stylish Black Shirt, a pair of Tuxedo Pants and her trusted Thug Boots. The belt is the Outfitter Belt while the gloves are the Knitted Gloves.

At night time though, when noone is watching she goes back to her Thug set - the undead and orc rogue set - and stalks the rooftops of Stormwind or even Dalaran. What she does there is unknown. Perhaps she gathers intelligence for Miss Hanuma, or simply juicy material for her very own fifth edition of the romance novel...

All The Little Things: Tabards

First, I am sorry for not writing anything in a long time. These past months have been hard as I lost someone close to me to cancer and I have really had no wish to publish anything. Guild work has kept me occupied as well..and my PC gave out two days ago. And now my blog is mad at me and I have to do everything in html.
Aaaanyways...

I have however been working on the druid sets post, but am still waiting on a few items I need to farm before I put that one out there.
In the mean time, I think I'll publish what I have half ready. First post that is shamefully overdue: Tabards, tabards, tabards....

Guild Tabards

Often, I see roleplayers wearing their faction tabards with their rp and combat gear. Some to show their affiliation to a certain faction or group, others to display some of their greatest achievements.
And I really like this. But...what about our guild tabards?

If you are like me, then you have had that moment where you put on your guild tabard and shudder because it clashes so hard with your armor that you simply cannot stand it. And then when you are trying to shove the poor thing back into your bags and end up deleting it because there is no point as you will never wear it, you have that moment of guilt for not wearing your guild colors with pride. *sighs*

I have been thinking about this a lot.

Those of us who have rp outfits for non-combat wear could seriously consider creating our outfits around our tabards, in stead of ignoring them and then getting annoyed when they do not fit.
Sure, there is always the option of creating that tabard that is so basic, black and golden, and will fit all but it often ends up being dull and unimaginative! Why not take matters into our own hands?
All it really takes is a bit of good will on our part as proud guildmembers and the result is noticeable. Better guild morale as well as interesting rp possibillities and good guild pr.

Here is my tabard obsession.

My old server's HFC tabard and Djul working with it.
The outfit consists of Green Iron Leggings, Ikeyen's Boots, Handguards of Precision, Bog Spaulders, Feathered Waistband and Conjurer's Vest.
This was my first tabard set, and I liked it so much that I still have it, even though the tabard is no more.

When I moved to Darkmoon Faire, I went through a few tabards before settling down with a purple one. Yes, it is because purple is a mage color and the flame is because I am a fire mage. Here is my new banker guild tabard and my lovely ladies Djul, Andro and Elzi.

Androdamea's outfit is perfect for any banker really. Matching up your guild tabard with a Lovely Dress can be an easy way to start as it comes in four colors. Add a suitable shirt and belt to your robe and you're good to go. Andro is wearing a Lovely Purple Dress with a Formal White Shirt, Inscribed Leather Belt and Stratholme Lily.

The higher the level of your character, the more choice you have of course. For Elzi I chose a little more revealing outfit. She is actually not wearing much at all - no shirt. *blush*
The 'pants' are Revenant Leggings. Symbolic Greaves are the boots and the belt is The Plaguebringer's Girdle.

And then there is Djul in her Egg-Warming robe. The lovely purple/pink boots are the Headhunter's Slippers and staff is the Crystalfire Staff. This is more my style really.

I know the possibilities are endless when it comes to tabards and outfits you can create for them, and that I cannot even cover a small part of this. But those of you with blue tabards...well, you're in luck! Keep reading.

For my main guild, The Arcane Academy, I've put some work into both the school tabard and outfits that work with it. In fact we are currently making school uniforms for each student rank, and they will all be built around the tabard itself.

Being a mage guild we chose to go with water as the main motif. Here are some of the many outfits Hanuma and her guld members wear with their tabards.

The most basic outfits are easily craftable or found on your AH really. Keli is wearing the Journeyman's Robe with Knitted belt and gloves. The staff is the Apprentice's Staff from the blood elf mage starter outfit or you can buy it from Silvermoon Harry. :)

If you cannot find this robe on the auction house, check out the craftable Simple Kilt along with some shirts. I'd recommend the White Swashbuckler's Shirt, Formal White Shirt or for a clean blue outfit Blue Linen Shirt. Another nice robe for female characters is the Simple Dress.

And if you prefer pants over robes and kilts, try pairing up Azure Silk Pants with a Stylish Blue Shirt. Thanks a bunch to Harm for this cool outfit.

Another perfect set for our tabard turned out to be the Midrealm Hat set that I created for an earlier post. Just add a Glacial Robe and Talonite's Belt to your Midrealm Hat. Ben, thank you so much for posing again!

Hanuma has plenty of blue sets in her bags and has proudly carried the academy crest through both battles and towns. As co-guild leader she has taken the tabard business seriously and created several outfits for it.

To the left Hanu's wearing a simple combination of the Layered Frost Robes and Cincture of Polarity. Can you believe it, me going for Wrath items!
In the image to the right Hanu is wearing the Kalu'ak Pigment-Stained Robes with Miasma Mantle, Gloves of Dark Gestures and of course my fevorite belt again. Oooh and add the Cloak of Frozen Spirits - looks great with dark blue outfits!

However, Hanu's most worn set is this lovely combination of the Sorcerer Robe and White Swashbuckler's Shirt. The belt is the Mindfire Waistband from The Blood Furnace.
For the robe, keep checking your AH. It is a robe that is overlooked by many and shouldn't cost you more than a couple gold coins.

For proud draenei, I would recommend the Robe of the Dragon Slayer. The belt is the golden version of the Mindfire Waistband and is called Bridenbrad's Sash.
Since this is quite a romantic outfit, Hanuma is wearing a Forever-Lovely Rose in her hair. :)

If you are looking for suits, there are so many to choose from. You can go for the tuxedo or the Haliscan sets, the dinner suits or even the Festive Pant Suits. You should be able to find something to match your tabard as there are quite a few colors to choose from. I went for the Festive Blue Pant Suit. The blade is Seethe and the offhand is the Chalice of Benedictus. Love that offhand. Oh and the gloves are the Netherwind Gloves.

And last two little bits of Academy tabard gear are created with two of my favorite robes: Robes of the Exalted and Mooncloth Robe. These also come in purple and golden colors, if you are looking for the same model to match up with your tabard.
The shirt is again the White Swashbuckler's Shirt and the belts are the same as above: Bridenbrad's Sash (golden) and Mindfire Waistband (silver).

Glinting Azuresong Mageblade and Chalice of Benedictus are the weapon and offhand.

There's that! Hopefully this will provide some inspiration.
So, my advice is: Make your guild tabard work and REPRESENT!

However....

If you are still not convinced about the guild tabards, I went to an old friend of mine - a total hoarder of gear, shirts, achievements and of course tabards - and made him show me parts of his collection. You will see more of him in the upcoming druid post as well. Please welcome Sumec bear. ;)

The most familiar rare tabard you can get your hands on with a tiny bit of effort is the Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade. Who would want to be in the Scarlet Cusade? Well, it certainly does open the door for some interesting rp even though I am too much of a do-gooder to try it. And for the interesting rp opportunities, this tabard has earned a spot here.

Easiest tabards to get your hands on are of course the reputation tabards. Two I would wholeheartedly recommend to all who are into tabards that suit their faction, are the Honor Hold/Thrallmar tabards. The Honor Hold Tabard would suit an alternative Stormwind outfit very well.
Also, don't forget the Icecrown tournament grounds where you can get your city tabards!

All druids and those in love with the Cenarion Circle and Expedition should give this tabard serious consideration. I am in love with this tabard because it is one of the prettiest in the game. All you need to get your hands on your very own Cenarion Expedition Tabard is some easy reputation farming in Outland.

Speaking of classes... Mages automatically start out as friendly with the Kirin Tor - even at level one. This means that mages can get their hands on the Tabard of the Kirin Tor at any level and without any farming. *hopes some of her guild mates are reading*

But some of the most amazing tabards out there must be the PVP tabards. I had no idea about this before I saw them and I have to admit, it almost made me want to pvp just so I could get my hands on some of them. Almost... (Appologies to the readers of the Horde, but I have only had a look at the Alliance tabards.)
Here Sumec bear is wearing the Competitor's Tabard and yupp he has his little Spirit of Competition pet out. Neither of these are avaliable any more. Just wanted him to show off a bit. :) And now, my favorite pvp tabards:

Left: The Arathor Battle Tabard! To get it, you need to do the Arathi Basin battleground and you need to be exalted with the League of Arathor to get the quest which gives you the tabard. But isn't it a beauty? *hugs pretty tab*
Right: Tabard of Conquest. It's so yummy! I really envy all those who have this one, but hey, they earned it - Master of Isle of Conquest.

If you still want more shiny pvp tabards, try these two. The Stormpike and Silverwing battle tabards are easier to get as you can purchase them from vendors for honor points. Or...well, seems easier to me. Is it? (Yupp, I never ever pvp. Ever.)
Oh! Horde players, please check out the Frostwolf Battle Tabard. It's amazing!

Small comfort for those who are into the 'friendlier' aspect of this game and not in the mood to simply farm reputation...you can always go for the Loremaster's Colors or the Tabard of the Explorer. Unfortunately neither look very rp friendly in my oppinion. I even deleted my explorer tabard because it was a waste of my bagspace. Yeah Blizz - make it more shiny next time! Especially for achievements such as these.. *mutters*

Or you can try the Illidari Tabards. They come in green and purple - you can change your mind as often as you want too. Above, Sumec is wearing the Green Trophy Tabard of the Illidari. ;)

One last tip for those who want something oh so pretty and have reputations enough to go tabard shopping, try collecting 25 tabards to get your own Tabard of the Achiever.
