World Events and a small Trinkets Update

Hi! Winter Veil is here! Yes, I have noticed actually. That's one of the reasons why it sometimes takes me longer to get things out here. I just have to admit that during world events, I'm usually too busy with the game to work on the blog. But....I really, really, really want to make some updates on former posts and comment on world events. So what has Hanuma been up to during the past holidays?


Brewfest

On my first trip to poke at Coren Direbrew I managed to become the lucky owner of not only a kodo mount, but also a ram, a remote and a pocket watch! What more could a girl ask for? Well, actually a lot. So I got down to business and dilligently worked my way to a new pet, dress and a 'small' collection of hats. To give something back I donated my insults to friends. Yes, I want to keep my good karma. *laughs*

<--- Look, even Dire Maul had Brewfest decorations up! I should drop by there now to see if they have a Winter Veil tree as well. I know it is late to talk about this, but I have to admit that when I made my post on trinkets, I was not counting on new trinkets coming out this year. Noob. Still, I want to use this post as an opportunity to update what I wrote about Brewfest. Some new things have popped up that are noteworthy, while I've sadly seen some old ones disappear. The pipe is no more, however we did get a mithril pocketwatch.

The lovely Brewfest ladies have simply been leveling since we last saw them and can now be summoned with new trinkets: Bitter Balebrew Charm and Bubbling Brightbrew Charm.

The Empty Mug of Direbrew has this year been replaced by a Tankard O' Terror.

And those who like to keep things clean got their chromium coasters, while those who love a brawl were again rewarded with Direbrew's Bloody Shanker and a souvenir!

Well, I've learned my lesson now so... Can't wait to see what Blizzard has in store for us next year. In the mean time, I am waiting for my next brew of the month!


Hallow's End

It seems that not much has changed with this marvelous festival. The Horseman's Reins are still way beyond my reach as I have not seen them drop a single time in my WoW life. Congratulations to those lucky people and their pixels that got one!

The items have simply been revamped and I managed to pick up a Horseman's Baleful Blade for myself this time around.

I noticed, though with some sadness, that Blizzard has decided to implement new 'temporary item' mechanics. The broom, that previously had a 14 days or so use has now been turned into an item only useable for the duration of the Hallow's event. This unfortunately means that fans of the broom (me) cannot farm this item last day of Hallow's in order to get an extra week of broom flying.
I am sad to see the broom nerfed again. This and the instant mount-up days of this perfect mount will be remembered at least by me (and all PVPers, I suppose. Only thing we have in common..).


Pilgrim's Bounty

Just as Brewfest is heaven for those who like to dress up and drink, Pilgrim's Bounty is heaven for those who like to dress up and eat. My robes and bags are bursting at the seams! All of my alts have maxed out their cooking and I am sure that we Chefs are now facing even more competition.

In case you missed it, this world event opened the door for burst leveling in the cooking profession department, allowing everyone to go from a cooking skill of 1 to 300 in a matter of minutes. Well, at least we got new recipes. But I bet that those of us who slaved with cross faction recipes to get the Chef de Cuisine achievement are a bit grumpy about that as well. *laughs*

Still, it was all good fun. A new pet added to the collection. New title for those who had not yet found one to suit them - suppose some holy men out there are happy now. Helped out with some reputation and experience grinding as well! I hope this festival is here to stay, as I enjoyed it very much.

Who knew dwarves could be rogues?! Sneaky little dwarves...

Winter Veil

I have to admit that I have always been too busy for Winter Veil, and it has never held much interest for me. But this year something quite amazing happened.

I was rushing to the Stormwind bank to deposit some items when a strange death knight, dressed all in red, greeted me with a smile and a warm hello. From a basket, he offered me some eggs and I thought 'How odd. It is too early for Noblegarden'.
Well, after a short chat, I found out that this wonderful person was handing out free eggs to anyone who needed them for their holiday gingerbread cookies. Why, you ask?
Because every Winter Veil some greedy souls decide to make gold by selling eggs at dizzyingly high prices. And this man would have none of it!

Three cheers for Stormwind's own 'Greatfather' Vadimo!





With so many festivals and Winter Veil now, I don't know if I can recover at all. My bags are filling up faster than miss Rouge can craft them. *sighs*

The Darkness and The Light... Part Two

 
Hey! Two days ago, Oslo was finally greeted by snow. *smiles* Perfect for this post on white outfits.

Finding purely white items in this game is a bit of a challenge but I have tried to hunt down some for you.

Also, for most of the loveliest white robes you really should turn to your tailors. They can craft a variety of robes for all levels.













Pretty much pure white:

White Woolen Dress
This pretty dress can be crafted by any tailor with a skill slightly above 100. It is inexpensive to craft and is not a soulbound item. To me it is one of the sweetest lower level robes you can get your hands on, and I love the inscription: "Like driven snow, but much warmer". Again, I would recommend keeping it simple: Knitted Sandals and a pet is really all you need.







White Wedding Dress
This is another one of those dresses that really don't need much additional gear to truly shine. Your friendly tailor can craft this and the pattern can be bought in Thunder Bluff and Stormwind.
Since the introduction of florists, there is a variety of bouquets to choose from.
I suggest you drop by Dalaran and pick the one your character likes best. Hanuma prefers the Spring Flowers bouquet from the Noblegarden festival.
Another accessory that I am really fond of is the Lamp of Peaceful Radiance. This offhand drops in heroic Arcatraz from Harbinger Skyriss. There is also a lovely 'scepter' that drops from Delilah in the same instance, so check that out.







Aurora Robe
This is the white equivalent of the Black Velvet Robes and most likely the prettiest white robe in the game, in my opinion at least. My love for it has resulted in this set that my death knight Vila will never get out of. Yes...a death knight in white. This is what you need to create Vila's set:
Aurora Robe and Cloak. Check your auction house for these as the drop rate for farming is not the best.
Ornate Girdle is the thin golden belt.
An off-hand I feel is very suitable for this set is the Beacon of Hope.
Though the Shimmering Boots are not completely white, they are probably the whitest boots that work with a robe as the green patterns on them cannot be seen. These are the boots for your white robes.



Another lady that wears this robe with grace is miss Ryedoni, who has simply matched her robe up with Frostscythe of Lord Ahune and Crown of the Fire Festival. With her lovely complexion and white hair...it's as if this robe was made for her. The snow flakes on the picture are included with the weapon, but you're on your own for the bubbles.














One more true vanilla gem...
Mooncloth Robe
This white dress with blue gems is a must. I suggest that any tailor who takes pride in his or her profession takes a little trip to Dire Maul to pick up the pattern for this dress. You can match the Mooncloth Robe with a white shirt if you want, but honestly...it's perfect the way it is. The only suggestions I can give are to look out for some bracers and to add this off-hand: Strength of Will.








Pants, sets and other items...
There are certain sets out there that are worth mentioning if you are looking for white items. Mix and match from these sets and you can create any outfit that suits you.


From the Aurora set you can get your hands on white shoulders, pants, chest and cowl. Djul is here posing in most of the Aurora items. The shoulders are very likely the whitest shoulders you can get your hands on. This set is also quite easy to find on the auction house. The belt is Heavy Miner's Belt and the staff is Diamond-tipped Cane. The Miner's belt is a quest reward item from Hellfire Peninsula, and works well with a variety of white items.
The cane is of course an obvious choice for anything white...





The Astralaan set will offer you fairly white gloves, belt and pants. This set is a mixture of black and white and I would recommend it to anyone interested in that. However, for this post I have only used the items that are predominantly white. On the screenshot below Djul is wearing the Astralaan pants, belt and gloves with Pilgrim's Boots, Aurora Mantle and White Tuxedo Shirt. The lovely spotted cat by her side is a Ghost Saber - just throwing it out there...in case some hunters want to go all out on their outfits. *giggles*



For something quite rare take a look at the Gossamer set from which the shoulders, cloak and helm are just amazing. The robe, though half grey, is one rare gem worthy of any collection. Also, the cloak is most likely the lovliest white cloak you can find.
I have not been able to get my hands on this set yet, so I cheated a little on the screenshots.




I would wholeheartedly recommend the Boneshredder set to any lucky soul that can wear leather. It no longer surprises me that this Burning Crusade set is most likely your best bet if you are looking for something with fur for cold Northrend regions. (Yes, I am poking the Wrath design team for their incompetence.)
Also, check out the Boneshredder Claws and Mace...
Boneshredder gloves and belt are missing on this picture, but believe me when I say that they are as lovely as what you can see. (So is my Kirara *pats tiger kitty*)








Hanuma's 'fishing outfit'
A simple set I made for her some time back. The pants are Blessed Trousers of Undead Cleansing, but you can also try some other white pants as these are no longer avaliable. The belt is the Resilient Cord and the chest is a combination of the White Linen Shirt and Buccaneer's Vest. From the Buccaneer set, you should also check out the bracers.







Buccaneer's Bracers are the whitest bracers out there and they look exactly like Buccaneer's Vest from the elbows down. Grab these if you can.

(Yupp, I am in SSC and Dire Maul on these screenshots - don't ask...)


For those who don't know, the lovely fishing pole on the shots is the Jeweled Fishing Pole.
And, if you want to add something else to this outfit, here are my favorites:
The Fiendish Machete from Dire Maul is the perfect weapon, while a lamp such as the Explorer's League Lodestar is the perfect off-hand. The cloak is Cloak of Everliving and if you are looking for a helm, I would recommend the White Bandit Mask.





If you are a draenei female, these white boots are your best choice: Moccasins of the White Hare. These boots will look somewhat grey on pretty much any other race and gender, but on draenei girls, they look white. *winks*




Stray items that are lovely white and that you should know about are the White Wolf Gloves, Crusader's Pauldrons, Pilgrim's Boots and Laminated Scale Boots. Here are some examples for you:
The image on the left here is a combination of Crusader's Pauldrons, White Linen Shirt, Buccaneer's Bracers, Aurora Armor and Pants, Sun Cured Belt and Laminated Scale Boots.


On the image to the right, Djul is wearing Aurora top, pants and shoulders with Boneshredder Boots, Sundered Gauntlets, Heavy Miner's Belt and the Diamond-tipped Cane. Love those warm boots!
Aaaand, there is a tiny white bear in the background!







Shirts!

Your choices are so many that I will simply list them and let you find what suits you best. Just remember that some of these shirts are rare or require reputation farming. In my outfits I have used the most basic of white shirts..

The simplest shirts out there are: Common White Shirt and White Linen Shirt.

For sleeveless white shirts: Sleeveless T-Shirt, Deckhand's Shirt and Captain Sander's Shirt.

  A simple white shirt with flared sleeves is the Formal White Shirt. This one looks like the top part of the Aurora Robe.





You can also choose between the White Tuxedo Shirt and Tuxedo Shirt. One is from the Noblegarden event and the other a craftable item. Again, poke your tailors!

The White Swashbuckler's Shirt has the same look as Buccaneer's Vest, only with lovelier sleeves, while the Bloodsail Shirt is also a match with even more flared sleeves.
There you go! *phew*


 

Add some color to your white outfits?

There are two pairs of white pants that will easily allow you to add some color to your white sets. These are Sage's Pants, which have a blue stipe on the sides, and Shimmering Trousers, with a green stipe. To give you a few examples, I have put together some simple sets with items that were cluttering Djul's bags. Hope you like them.


The green set consists of:
Shimmering Trousers and Boots
Feathered Headdress
Feathered Waistband
Wild Shoulderpads
Breastplate of Rapid Striking - Yes, this is the same model as the black and red Ironhide Breastplate from the previous post.
The staff is the Magus Long Staff.






Here is what I added to the Sage's Pants:
Talonite's Belt and Boots
Lo'ap's Tunic of Muck Diving - This sexy little top is a quest reward from a Nagrand quest.
Celestial Handwraps - Lovely blue gloves that are usually overlooked and sold for a cheap price on the auction house.
The staff you see here is actually an off-hand and its name is Bonecaster's Star.



The last combination with Sage's Pants that I want to show you is this one:
The top, bracers and gloves all belong to the Shadow Council set. The belt is the Astralaan Belt and the boots are Seer's Boots.
Oh, and before I forget: Shadow Council Cowl is also white. In fact it has the same coloring and look as the Aurora Cowl.


















Five robes:


White Linen Robe
Wearable at level five, this robe is most likely the finest white and purple robe for lower level characters. It's also not a bad choice for leveling. *winks*
Djul is wearing this robe with the Diamond-tipped Cane, Aurora Mantle and Shimmering Boots.
















Spring Robes
Many have kept their Spring Robes from the Noblegarden world event. The way I have matched up this robe is by adding the Cloak of Everliving, Gossamer Shoulderpads, Resilient Cord and a Bouquet of Orange Marigolds. The marigolds are from the Day of the Dead event. Hope you saved them. *giggles*














Silver Dress Robes
You can purchase these robes in every major city (apart from the Burning Crusade and Wrath cities) for a bit over two gold. This robe is really worth every copper. Just remember that you have to be level 45 to wear this beauty. Try pairing the robe up with Gossamer Shoulderpads or the Aurora Mantle. The belt on one image here is the Glimmering Mail Girdle.












For something more revealing and pink, try the Astralaan Robe. I don't think this robe suits every race but that's just snobby me again...













Last robe that definitely deserves space is the Runecloth Robe. If you are a priest and a tailor, you can of course go for the more fancy Truefaith Vestments. But, if you are not, the Runecloth Robe will have to do. To me this robe has enough ornaments on its own, so I would not recommend adding too much to it. Should you want to fill out the open parts of this dress, simply put a shirt under it, and if you want to add a helm, then I would suggest the Gossamer Headpiece, Shadow Council Cowl or the Aurora Cowl.







Pets, pets, pets!
(As usual...)

Well, I am so sorry Horde!
The White Kitten is my favourite white pet. If you were playing during WoW's fourth anniversary, you will also have an adorable little bear cub to be your companion. Other completely white pets are the Elwynn Lamb, Snowshoe Rabbit, White Tickbird, White Moth and Westfall Chicken. The chicken is an interesting one... *giggles*
A white pet perfect for this season though and snow in general is of course the Snowman. And do not forget Whiskers the Rat!


Those wearing the Boneshredder set should consider getting the Tranquil Mechanical Yeti.
For some alternative and not quite white pets you can check out the Shimmering Wyrmling, Wolpertinger, Spring Rabbit, Miniwing, Cockatiel and the Siamese Cat.

Oh and I just want to remind all elves out there that they have some of the lovliest white mounts. Use them!

What do you wear?

The Darkness and The Light... Part One

Hi! Trying to catch up here with all my former posts, but I don't think it will work, so I decided to merge my Hallow's End outfits into a double post on black and white outfits. I guess one of the reasons being that Hallow's is over.. The other reson is this never ending darkness of freezing Norway that has got me in the mood. I long for summer, but alas, now is the season for the contrast of black skies and glittering snow (Though the snow seems determined to make me wait for it).



I am starting with the dark outfits. Something compells me to get them out of the way, as if reality itself will look brighter after.

Surprise, surprise! The sheer ammount of items to choose from is overwhelming, so I picked out from some of what I already had, as well as a couple of outfits outside my own collection.
Once again I did not find much I quite liked from Wrath. One would think, with the onslaught of evil in Northrend, that there would be more black out there, but there is not. So, my love affair with vanilla and BC items continues. *smiles*

And to appease the boys who have been complaining about the girl factor in what I write about, I have chosen a lot of outfits with PANTS this time! And it's not all cloth either! There! Happy now? *laughs* Oh, and some of these pictures might be a bit small, but you can just click on them to enlarge them.



One of the most simple, yet stunningly put together sets, for which I will not take credit is the Silver-thread set: Silver-thread Amice, Armor, Boots, Cuffs, Sash, Gloves, Pants and Rod. The cloak of this set is not very impressive though. I would recomment the Formidable Cape in stead. The Silver-thread set has a level 24 requirement, is cloth and perfect for a rogue. Your best bet to collect this is once again the auction house. Thank you Sondre for mailing me half the set a while back.




Djul here, in full Silver-thread, with a Swashbucklers Eyepatch and Mirah's Song.

Honestly every piece of this set is amazing. Mix and match it as you wish.





This next black outfit was created for Djul right before the expansion, as I was musing over what a death knight could look like. I adore the Ebonhold Gauntlets, as well as the Bloodmail Legguards. But Tuxedo Pants will work just as well. The Demonslayer has been with me for some time now, and is one of my favorite dark swords. The rest of the set consists of: a black shirt, Souting Boots, Renegade Chestguard and Renegade Belt. This is still my favourite black set.




Also, check out the Azure Lightblade. It's perfect for more ornate black sets. I just picked up the Lantresor's Warblade in Nagrand, for a slightly more exotic look. And if you want to add some color to your black outfits, why not go for red?



Add some color to your black set?

The following set is mostly the same as above apart from: Lantresor's Warblade, Silver-thread Sash, Bloodlust Epaulets, Ebon Filigreed Doublet and Feralfen Beastmaster's Hauberk.



And, if you wish to give your weapons some red glow ask your enchanters to give you one of the following weapon enchants: Beastslayer or Greater Potency.




Another black and red, with a mixture of mail and cloth items: Blacksting Shoulders, Ironhide Breastplate (take a better look at this one as it is amazing), Audi's Embroidered Boots and some amazing weapons...


You can buy the Nexus-Claw and Void-Talon in Stormspire. They are quite pricy but you have to admit that they look awesome.











One last simple look for clothies. I've paired up the Tuxedo Pants with Ebon Filigreed Doublet, Magister's Crown, Crimson Bracers of Gloom and Ruby Drape of the Mysticant. The belt is the Cincture of Polarity, but Angelista's Grasp works just as well.









Robes, robes...

The Silver-thread Robe is of course just as lovely as the pant set, though it is sleeveless. A very common way to match up your Silver-thread Robe is to add the Stylish Black Shirt.
I have opted for the Black Velvet Robes as they look the same as the Silver-thread and stylish shirt combination. But the Silver-thread robe will of course give you more freedom to customize.

















Another classic way to go black requires only a short trip to Shadowfang Keep. Yes, I am talking about the Robes of Arugal. Add a Ghostly Mantle to it, and you're pretty much set. *winks*

Now for a somewhat forgotten gem...The Death Speaker Robes!

I love these robes. With such unique coloring these are most likely the best looking ones of all robes of the same model. They are also very easy to grab. *nudges your alts toward the Razorfen Kraul entrance*
Oh and pick up the shoulders and the scepter while you're at it! From my experience, these are the most rarely worn black robes.











My two helm choices for this robe are Don Carlos' Famous Hat and amazingly enough a WOTLK helm: Layered Frost Hood. There are a million versions of this Wrath helm, so check Wowhead. The blade is Horseman's Baleful Blade, cloak is the Warmonger's Cloak and the shoulders are Death Speaker Mantle.
The belt is of course an overlooked little green by the name of Resilient Cord. An auction house gem.








Two well dressed draenei:


Biker chick Tay is here posing in Black Tuxedo Pants and Prospector's Chestpiece. The gloves are Gloves of Dismal Fortune, boots Husk Shard Sabatons and the belt is Links of Righteous Persecution. Oh and the blade of course is the lovely Perditions Blade.

Mighty sexy, if you ask me. Need to take a screenie of her on that bike. I'm pretty sure she has those mage guards turning their heads every time she drives through Dalaran. *grins*




And then there is this well dressed gentleman I ran into at a mailbox in Stormwind some time ago. If this is not a well assembled black set for male characters, I don't know what is. Watch and learn grasshoppers.

From the Defias Leather set, Kamp here is wearing the armor, boots and gloves. The pants are Chausses of Westfall and the shoulders are Bandit Shoulders. Beneath his armor is a Stylish Black Shirt as well as a Thick Bronze Necklace. The tabard is Tabard of the Void. And the sword is the Executioner's Sword with an Icy Weapon enchant.




The Wicked Witch and Zorro.

Now for my old Hallow's End outfit... It's quite simple really, and has most likely been done by many before me, but here it is:
Skywitch Hat or Wicked Witch's Hat
Netherweave Robe
Handwraps of Flowing Thought (or any other black gloves)
Cloak of Consumption
Supplicant's Rod (Hypergizmatic Energy Booster, or simply Red Sparkler from the summer festival are equal matches)
To make it all more authentic, put on a Wicked Witch's Band and grab your broom.



My witch set is also the foundation for what I call my Zorro outfit! Yes, I have a wow meets mexico outfit... Simply replace your weapon with the Defias Rapier, your witch hat with Don Carlos' Famous Hat and your broom with a black horse.
Also, the Death Speaker Robes look awesome with Don Carlos' Famous Hat and Rapier.

And of course there is the classic Haliscan suit, for those who want to match the hat completely. In that case, don't forget the Don Carlos Tequila!
And this brings me to...





More Lower Level Items and Other Combinations

What are your basic black items?
I would say the Festive Black Pant Suit, Haliscan Set, Tuxedo, Simple Black Dress and of course the Lovely Black Dress are obvious choices. Not only can you give most of them away as presents to your merchants and bankers, but they will never be soulbound and are perfect bagspace savers.

I like to keep the Simple Black Dress simple and usually never match it up with more than the classic Knitted Sandals and a pet.

And no, I cannot skip the Lovely Black Dress, so here is something I put together for this post only. Djul here has matched up the lovely dress with tuxedo pants and Stylish Black Shirt. The belt, gloves and staff are all from the Silver-thread set.
This is perfect for lower level characters as all items are level 24 and below.








Another nice, though slightly more complicated black set is achieved by adding the folowing items to your black dress: Common Gray Shirt, Nightscape Shoulders, Gauntlets of Deftness, Renegade Belt and Crystalfire Staff.



Or try the Stylish Black Shirt and Shifting Sash of Midnight. This Ramparts belt is one underestimated bit of dark gear. Apparently it is a revamp of a vanilla rogue set.





And here is my last black dress set, one that I made for Hanuma. Wear a Lovely Black Dress over a pair of Tuxedo Pants and a Stylish Black Shirt. Add Handwraps of Flowing Thought, Cincture of Polarity and Duskhallow Mantle.


















If you don't want to go for the complicated look, then the Festive Black Pant Suit, Tuxedo and Haliscan set might be for you. Black boots work well with these sets, but do not underestimate the Knitted Sandals and Dress Shoes. *winks*

I would however suggest you try to customize your outfits a little to suit your personality. For instance, an extremely simple modification to the Tuxedo suit, that I like very much is to add some color with a belt like Grasp of The Old God, from AQ.
You've also already seen what can be done with existing items in the black and red combinations.




As far as the Haliscan set is concerned, the only accessories really needed are the Don Carlos' Famous Hat or Haliscan Brimmed Hat, a rapier and some tequila. But if that is too strong for you, simply exchange it for Black roses and a glass of red wine!

And before I forget... The black items from the Pilgrim holiday are also some of the darkest black items you can wear, if you don't mind the white collars on the suit and dress and white socks on the feet.

If you are looking for some alternative helm items, you can go for a black mask or hood. The Pilgrim's Hat is also a good alternative. In my previous post I wrote about Stealther's Helmet of Second Sight. I think this helm is a perfect choice for those evil looking dark sets.

Pets, pets, pets!
Bombay - my long time companion, the first pet I ever got - is your perfect pet for Hallow's End or any other black outfit. Other pets I would recommend are the black tabby and black owl. If you want something more sinister try the ghostly skull and Haunted Memento. Cockroach is also good if you are looking for a creepy crawly look. And the ultimate Hallow's and witch pets are of course the Sinister Squashling and the Enchanted Broom.
